This is something you should bring up to HR stating that medical reasons require accommodation, that you cannot due to medication you must take work in the position night shift.

Prayers up. What line of work? Yes, the night shift can be brutal on a body. As another FReeper suggested, you may be able to petition to be reassigned to a different shift. Good luck with the decisions and outcomes, as you move forward.

prayers you got, yes.

but do some stuff for yourself too....
1. ask your doctor about the drowsiness (sometimes a smaller dose will work, sometimes a different pill with less drowsines will work, as your medic!)

2. if that doesn’t solve the problem, advise your union representative if you have one, and then your manager and personnel department that you require an Accomodation at work (you probably have some rights to reasonable accomodations as required by your medical condition)..such as... if it is a large company maybe they can shift your working hours, or do something else to assist you in keeping your job
Best,
fhc

Prayers up! US Navy Vet, I had the same type of situation with Post-Polio issues; you should get the company’s HR people involved.Don’t try to handle this on your own.

You’ve got the prayers! But in the meantime, tbw2 is right on the money. Under the ADA, your employer has to make reasonable accommodations for your disability. Follow that advice and go see HR.

This is great advice!

“This is something you should bring up to HR stating that medical reasons require accommodation, that you cannot due to medication you must take work in the position night shift.”

Prayers up!

Your in our thoughts and prayers, FRiend.
BTW: I’m not sure if you’re interested in job opportunities in the information security, and data privacy field.

Let me know in FRmail if you’d like to pursue that.
