then he is released the next day.
No............Friday, August 12th’s game is in Tampa Bay not
at Yankee Stadium.
Rodriguez and the Yankees announced on Sunday that the three-time Most Valuable Player will play his last Major League game on Friday against the Rays at Yankee Stadium. Following the game, Rodriguez will be unconditionally released from his player contract

Football matters? Unless you are financially engaged to the game and are making your life in it, it’s just a sport. It’s a bunch of overgrown boys out there trying to clobber the other guy for big money that the “fans” are supporting with overpriced ticket, stadium food prices equivalent to purchasing Lincolns, parking headaches that are not assisted with the lot, and having to pay exuberant state taxes hidden in may ways so they can play around 7 to 8 years and make more money than most people will ever see. These investments are just a sport. Entertainment, money. If football was to stop today, it would only change the money trail it has created because people are willing to pay the price.Same with baseball, hockey, basketball and every other sport that barters bodies for dollars by a short list of owners that make up their own rules. And they do not care who fills the seats. It’s just numbers.

Manny?
In 7 words; Football matters to average Americans, Baseball doesn’t.
nor Griffey...
payrod sacrificed his baseball soul for money, big money..
karma and steroids/HGH can be a bitch....
(on a side note, to tell you how dysfunctional the Seattle Mariners are, they had a nice, young payrod, when he was still a good guy, and Ken Griffey, and Randy Johnson and Edgar Martinez and STILL couldn't get to the WS)
Well what you say may be true, it’s still nice to see that Pay-Rod is getting his Just Desserts. The Mariners are my team.
A-Rod retiring? Yawn, bye bye. Actually sounds like he’s being cut and deciding to call it retirement.
But he’s gonna keep working for the Yankees? That surprises me, I though that relationship was effed.
yes, I think AROD is going to go play with another team and chase the Babe.
it is the Yanks who are saying he is retiring ... retiring from the Yanks.
Special adviser and instructor in what? How to beat drug tests?
It’s really nothing more than a business making millionaires richer that a vast amount of the world will never meet or see. And people are willing to pay the price to make them that way. Sports is expensive entertainment, nothing more.
“To use (something valuable, such as talent) in a way that is not appropriate or respectable and especially to earn money.” Wouldn’t you say that trying to hit someone hard enough to harm them could qualify? And only a few people can play the game at the pro level due to size speed and training of which the first two can’t be taught? What I gave you at the start of this paragraph is Webster’s definition of a prostitute. Hitting people on the street is a jailable offense, a crime against humanity, a law for the protection of society.
In the center of life, sports is nothing. Our military members facing death for our children’s safety, that means something. But the sports millionaires that own teams haven’t figured out a way to make money on it. But if they did, they would. Sick, isn’t it?
