Nightcrawler. Gyllenhaal's character was reptilian and I rooted against him in the movie. He was a typical lefty reporter with no moral values or character.

I don’t know if this film qualifies as a sleeper, but my wife and I just saw “The Infiltrator” with Bryan Cranston. I very much disagree with his politics, but this was a very well done film.
I think it only played for about 3-4 days in our area and we just happened to go to it for lack of anything else to do.
When we left the theatre I told my wife that I was still tensed up. It seemed things were constantly on edge and believable.
Based on a true story about an accountant who got inside the drug cartel and laundered their money...sort of.
I would watch it again just to see what I missed the first time.

If you want a short movie, try
2081, base on Kurt Vonnegut's short story "Harrison Bergeron".

I don’t think that really qualifys as a sleeper :-)

I liked “Hanna”. Kind of like a Jason Bourne movie, but with a 14 year old girl in place of Matt Damon.

I think women tend to like that movie because it includes some of the astronauts' wives' perspective. Great soundtrack, too.
I remember hearing the main theme booming from the Disney-Hollywood Studios (them MGM) speakers. A couple walking near me was trying to figure out what movie it was from, so I told them. They'd never seen the movie before, but the woman pulled a notepad out of her purse and jotted down the name. Hope they enjoyed it.

It’s kind of both.
But it’s not like everyone else in town had a beta VCR. That would have been odd. Better quality. But odd.

Serpent and the Rainbow. with Bill Pullman, Cathy Tyson, and Paul Winfield. It's one of Wes Craven's best.

Going to see Chunnel right after dinner at a Chinese restaurant.

#74 You just described Lord of the Rings.
Half the movie was them walking and walking or riding and riding.
A good director would have down a wipe and you are at the next scene.

Another film that sort of slips under the radar is Léon: The Professional , mostly due to the French production and lead actor (Jean Reno was just becoming known at that time in films such as Ronin, already mentioned). Very good movie, though.

I’ve got a pretty strong stomach, and that was too much for me. I don’t ever need to see that again.
To: gigster
From what i saw i got that as well.
Doesn’t mean i have to root for the dirt bag.
Gyllenhaal and his sister are far out there leftist moonbats.
both should be on my list...
I will still watch the the movie though, heard it was pretty good, Jake was great as Darko.
Bubble Boy, although stupid was amusing.
As far as im concerned both peaked with Donnie Darko, both are getting older and while hollywood seems to love the two their later movies suck.
