That’s what Chinese medical people call “bottling.” Very common for aches and pains. I’ve had it done several times. Not for flies though!

I can’t think of anywhere I’ve been that is free of bot flies (screw worm, etc) or their maddening first cousins the horse/deer fly. Just some urban areas have fewer numbers. I think that in my youth, nits/no see’ms half blinded me and set up camp in my nose. Regular bandanas give little relief. ‘
