Guitarist Eric Clapton will appear on the Rolling Stones' blues-inspired new album, Keith Richards has confirmed.
The musician "dropped by for a couple of numbers", Richards told BBC 6 Music, adding the recording sessions had been "like old times down in Richmond".
Both the Stones and Clapton's former band, The Yardbirds, used to perform at the Crawdaddy Club in Richmond, Surrey.
Richards said the Stones were hoping to play some European dates next year and would "love to" perform in the UK.
"I think it's on the menu somewhere," the 72-year-old said.
The new album was confirmed by the band earlier this year at the launch of Exhibitionism, a career retrospective at London's Saatchi Gallery.
The recording sessions have included both new material and a number of blues covers, including songs by Little Walter and Howlin' Wolf.

Why should I care, they haven’t ever created something new, it’s R&B.
Clapton was on the Beatles ‘White’ album.
I saw The Stones in Buffalo last summer- 80,000 people in the stadium on their feet for the entire 3 hours!
What’s the difference between cociane and a baby??
Eric Clapner would never let cocaine fall out the window...
....too soon?
When the Stones are "on", no band in the world and especially no new band can compare.
They rock.
Is the veal on the menu tonite?
Rich stadium? Who opened for them?
Saw them at the Pats old Foxboro stadium back in '80-something (Steel Wheels tour) - they really can put on a show.
Living Color opened for them, some seriously rockin' black dudes.
"The blues...that's black music mostly played by whites." --Eric Idle, "The Rutles."
Clapner played lead on “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” - a song written by George Harrison and ironically during the time Harrison’s wife was having an affair with Clapner.
As a young whippersnapper, I was living in Hollywood and one Saturday I was listening to KHJ.
The station was playing a newly released album and the studio guest was talking about each song and what was happening in the recording studio at the time.
The album? “White Album”
The guest? George Harrison
All proceeds to go to the AARP ?
.
Not funny.
The Yardbirds, at various times had some amazing lead guitarists:
Eric Clapton - aka “Slow Hand”
Jimmy Page - later founded Led Zep
Jeff Beck - easily the best of the three
And Harrison played the guitar riff on the Cream song ‘Badge’.
Clapton is way overrated. The stones are so bad live ...
Mick Taylor ...
I just couldnt believe how bad they sounded, the guitarist recalled from his first rehearsals with the Stones. Their timing was awful. They sounded like a typical bunch of guys in a garage playing out of tune and too loudly. I thought, How is it possible that this band can make hit records?’
