GOP insiders: Trump nailed it
Politico ^ | 7/22/2016 | Steven Shepard

CLEVELAND — Donald Trump’s acceptance speech hit the mark Thursday night, drawing accolades from a number of GOP political insiders who had doubted his competence to lead the Republican ticket this fall.

That’s according to The POLITICO Caucus — a panel of operatives, activists and strategists in 11 battleground states surveyed immediately following Trump’s speech. Fifty-six percent of Republican insiders said Trump’s speech — a forceful indictment of those responsible for what he perceives as a country in decline, along with an assurance that he is uniquely qualified to solve the nation’s ills — made them feel more confident in his candidacy.

“Trump gave a simple message and expanded the Republican Party: law and order, economic populism and defeat the rigged system,” said one Iowa Republican — who, like all respondents, completed the survey anonymously.

“I felt Trump gave a very good speech and struck on issues and policies that people wanted to hear about,” added a Colorado Republican. “His family and friends did an excellent job of showing the softer side of Donald Trump and gave America a good view of his family, which says a lot about him as a person. I think he is absolutely right — this is a movement, not a ‘normal’ campaign. People have had enough of tired politicians. I think they are going to give him the chance to run the country.”

The key is just how many people are really out there that haven’t already decided who to vote for and haven’t already been convinced and told who to vote for by the liberal media.

It seems after Trump’s speech a lot of liberal quisling pundits and journolists all over this country are hollering like stuck pigs this morning. Trump was DARK and ominous.

Well, my so-called ‘Americans’ in that camp, his speech and message wasn’t dark; it was a 1000 watt light bulb being switched on in the kitchen and all you cockroaches are scrambling FOR the dark.

You little sh!ts ain’t seen ‘dark’ yet.

All the libs heard is Trump’s anger. Funny, I watched all of it and I didn’t hear any anger, just how he was going to proceed to fix things. I guess they were given the talking points beforehand.

I was tired last night but for what I saw of the very long speech was good. It was classic Trump. Going into the final stretch Trump has a clear advantage against Clinton. She is the representative of status quo corruption. She is the embodiment of arrogant politicians that think that their positions mean the law doesn’t apply to them.

I’m seeing very good indicators in state by state polls and in the national polls. Trump is closing the gap nationally but more importantly he’s clearly competitive in places Republicans would not normally be.

NH is a tie.
NY Hillary’s lead is cut to 12 points Obama won by 28.
PA Trump leads or is tied.
FL Trump leads
OH Trump leads or is tied. More importantly when undecided voters are asked who they could be persuaded to vote for Trump leads 29% to 2%. This is a big problem for Clinton.

Trump will win late deciders against Clinton. Clinton is not getting Obama like enthusiasm so no matter how much edge she has in the polls she will have a very hard time overcoming Trumps built in enthusiasm Trumpnami. No one is excited about Hillary Clinton on any level.

Two other big indicators that this election is going not just Trump’s way but the GOP’s way is then Senate and congressional polling. All polls show GOP candidates winning their Senate seats. Generic congressional polling shows the GOP at parity with the Democrats which is usually unheard of. If we do our part to turn out the vote. We will have it all. The presidency, the Senate, and the House.

If you go back and listen to Don, Jr’s speech, it was a perfect set-up for last night, as was Eric’s, as well. Basically because Dad and sons are on the same page. Those young men were raised right, and think right.

Junior told how Dad would leave them, as kids, at a jobsite, with a trusted foreman, one of them named Vinnie if I heard right, who taught them the honor of an honest job; until those boys were “as comfortable on a
D-10 CAT as we were in our own cars.”

Both those guys served a version of OJT apprenticeships in the building trades, WHILE they attended college and/or business school.

That’s why they can stand up ramrod straight, look the world square in the eye, and tell ya’ exactly where the bear crapped in the buckwheat.....as opposed to some simpering, lying media poser in his Gucci loafers.

Really looking forward to my state (PA) turning red.

I hope Trump has a plan to combat voter fraud in Philly and Pittsburgh. Most of those precincts have 110% turnout.

And that's what sank her campaign in 2008. The Democrats back then didn't want another rerun of the Clintons then and ended up choosing Barack Obama instead.

The chattering class seem to have it all figured out - he’s appealing to people’s fears.

Comical coming from a gang that constantly warns us of pending climate apocalypse.

They just don’t seem to understand Trump’s appeal.

And this ‘he didn’t pivot to the center’ stuff. Trump just got through calling the entire system corrupt...and the media is surprised he didn’t welch on his promises during the primaries to ‘pivot’? They really don’t understand.

You can always tell how good a GOP candidate is by how the libs react.

They hated Reagan from the word go, hated Coolidge and hate Trump.

By contrast they were ambivalent about Poppy and W pre-Iraq

She managed to screw up a coronation in 2008 - because she really isn’t a good politician.

So the DNC put her up against Governor O’Nobody and one of the cranky old guys from the muppets...and held the debates on Saturday night when nobody was watching. And she almost screwed that up. The muppet guy started a new movement, and she needed the super-delegates to drag her lousy butt across the finish line.

I can’t wait for the first debate with her and Trump. She may have Bubba, and Chelsea, and the media, and movie stars, etc surrogate campaign for her. But she’s going to have to show up solo to the debates - dressed in a huge moo-moo that hides her adult diaper, and endure Trump calling her a crook to her face.

The media know it alls underestimated Trump from the beginning. They have been wrong with their sarcastic remarks and wisecracks. They are fishing for something negative to say about an excellent convention. Who watches these has beens?

Oh gawd. Trump is going to bring out the “inner b****” in Hillary Clinton during the debates and she will be done in no time flat.

I felt she didn’t get it in 2008 because of the clean articulate blackish man that nobody was going to say ‘no’ to.

Ya, what’s with so many saying it was a “dark” speech??

How is it that so many liberals, in reacting to any event, use the exact same words??? All the media types are saying it was a “dark” speech.

If they use the same words, aren’t they plaigerizing? Because we have been lectured about plaigerism in the wake of Melania’s speech.

Yep, aren’t Trump’s children very appealing and very nice people??? They turned out well, didn’t they?

I wonder if the Democrats will now trot out Chelsea Clinton to talk about her mother? Will it be nearly as effective as the Trump children talking about their dad and their values?
