I believe it is Trump's obligation, as the victor, to be the bigger man and do his part to heal the rift in the party, regardless of who one believes to be fault. That's just the way these things work. The victor must be a good winner.
Here's what he should work into his speech:
"You know, I've always enjoyed watching Ted Cruz take it to the powers-that-be in Washington. He's a man of deep conservative principles --- and a complete pain in the ass.
I don't enjoy it much when he's a pain in my ass.
But he's OUR pain in the ass.
And he's right about one thing in particular --- and said the most important thing you've heard at this convention --- vote for the man who will uphold the Constitution, believes in liberty and freedom, and who will return this fine country to greatness.
Well, I give my word to Ted, and I give my word to you. Indeed, I swear by G-d, on my life and the life of my children and grandchildren, that I will uphold the Constitution. I believe in liberty and freedom, and I will return this fine country to greatness."
The result would be a healing of the rift, the NeverTrumpers would shut up, and Cruz and Trump could work together, which they will need to do.
Are you confused? What does any of that have to do with Cruz refusing to endorse
Agree, as long as Cruz is stuck on himself. That is the real poison here. If he is stuck on himself, he won’t be able to make room for Trump’s progress. Might as well just “leave the bum in the dust.”
You asked why God does that.
//Cruz, for good or ill, EARNED his speaking slot.//
Yet the nominee has a lot of pull. Remember how Ron Paul wasn’t allowed to speak unless they proofed is speech (ie endorsed Romney)?
Trump could have not let him speak, but by letting Cruz hang himself, Trump showed himself to be gracious and took away Cruz’s platform.
They are both the enemy now.
Trump heaped hot coals on Cruz’s head. It was Cruz’s choice whether to make that into a cook stove or a funeral pyre.
No I didn’t.
I made a statement about God.
You asked why?
Go ask God why, or explain what YOU mean and stop being hypocritically cute.
Romney was and is a RINO and a detestable person. And Cruz earned a whole lot more support in the primaries than Ron Paul did. He earned that spot on the podium.
He didn't have to perform seppuku, though. That's all on him. And it was utterly stupid.
No issued why?
As in why would you post such a no sequitur to my post
You have gone of the rails
Why are you so shallow.
You need to check your Ned’s. Nothing you have posted in response has made any sense what so ever
Mr. needing spoon feeding, this is what Ted missed.
Are you happy baby?
You certainly need to take the curative dose.
Heh! An apt parable...
What are you babbling about?
My post that you started with you lecture on grace and God merely said Ted, Glen, and Ted’s dad told me I would be damned if I voted for Trump
Everything you have posted sense then is just this side of being delusional. Has the sun gotten to you?
Truly what is your problem?
What rift? Only thing I see is Cruz acting like a petulant 2 year old who isn’t getting his way.
This is Cruz:
He expects Trump to come over and reach out to him, give him a hug, say "There, there..." and let Cruz act as some kind of a co-candidate, setting policy and perhaps even picking cabinet members. If not, he'll continue to sulk and say childish things all through November.
It's all up to Trump, you see - says the childish Cruz.
To the people attacking Cruz today. It ain’t about Cruz. It’s about insulting whose that supported him. Just today I’ve read Cruz supporters are “traitors” “scum” “jerks” “a$$holes” etc etc etc. You want to get Trump elected without Cruz fine. But at the same time you’re ticking off a lot of his supporters. If Trump doesn’t rein this in he will lose their votes.
