Cliches or not, if a speechwriter helped himself to the actual wording of another person's speech (especially the First Lady of the opposing party), that person needs to be .... fired. They gave away the first evening.

The lifting was especially lamentable because Melania gave a very classy and well-delivered speech. Somebody did her a grave disservice and needs to have their butt kicked all the way to Cincinnati.

Trump needs to fire the speech writer who helped her.
That person is a traitorous mole.

I believe the plagiarism was done intentionally, and that there was a blatant rickroll at the end of it.

Some twerp probably thought it was a cool joke but it humiliated both of them and overshadowed all the other great speeches last night.

I agree. But as you can see, a lot of people are missing the point.

She did a masterful job in the delivery. And that is all being lost to using some words that Michelle used in '08. Someone posted a link that Michelle had used some words that Mrs. Trump used from an Alinksy speech. Bad enough it's a first lady from the opposing party. Now using Alinky's words?

Even IBD is saying someone needs to pay for this.

Agreed. I’m a yuuuge Trump supporter, but this was sloppy, only because it gives the media a shiny new object to focus on instead of the takedown on Hillary Clinton’s failed leadership last night. The best way to handle this would be for the Trump campaign to say, “Sure focus on the fiddle while Rome burns”...and move on, but someone on the staff needs to be let go for allowing that to happen.

Bah. The opposition party and the media (redundant, I know) would trash the evening regardless. Even if that speech hadn't happened we'd hear "too mean", "too white", "no plans", "empty rhetoric", "no enthusiasm", etc. It's a given.

The only time I recall the media simply being at a loss for anything to criticize on a given night of a GOP convention was when Sarah Palin gave her magnificent speech in 2008 and they were rendered speechless and terrified. But they regrouped quickly enough and set out to destroy her, which for all intents and purposes they did.
