No link. I heard it on fox news.

Police association is wanting Ohio state law regarding open carry suspended so there are no open guns during the Republican convention.

Kasich has refused their request.

Situation awareness is key. I’m currently at a bar, but my back and left side are to a stone wall. Also scanning everyone around me.

My father taught me this. Freepers should learn/practice it...

“I expect thousands of bikers to show up to protect the cops and delegates.”

Over a month ago, a friend who is a delegate said that the delegates will be bussed from the hotel (or hotels?) to the convention center. Given that the Secret Service has ‘control’ in that 6 block radius (or whatever it is),I’d imagine that the delegates will prolly be safe. The way I see it, if there is to be mayhem, if it is on a smaller scale, it will be outside of the ‘secure’ zone where people will not be searched, or if it’s on a large scale, no place in or near the convention center will be safe, as in the use of a dirty bomb or biological/chemical attack, which is what I have been feeling a sense of dread about for over a month now.

I graduated from OSHP basic training Class BASIC 62 in 1976. After I resumed patrol in my city, I had to take OSHP out myself to serve basic warrants. If we had an emergency in the town (Civil disturbance, stand 0ff even a funeral for an officer) we MIGHT ask them to help out. They ONLY did traffic duty. The heavy lifting was done by the SO or local towns who loaned out their officers for assistance while being sworn in as Deputies Sheriffs. OSHP would really like to hear you think they are bad asses, but the Philly Bike Patrol Officers do more police work.

Good...

I have mixed emotions about that.......

Knowing full well who and what these protestors are, I would suspect any of them openly carrying a handgun purchased it illegally

“This will be a convention that will have multiple mass shootings.”

I fear the possibility for such is very high. Obama and the Globalists want to disarm America sooooo bad! They may have had their Patsy’s all lined up and ready to go for months now. They’ve managed to create more mass shootings, terrorist attacks, and racial division in the past few months that I cannot see them passing up what they see as a golden opportunity.

While I can agree with certain elements of your post, particularly concerning the motivation of these troublemakers, I cannot help but think that this did not work out too well for them in 1968. The unrest that year was far greater van anything that we have seen this year, and Nixon’s Silent Majority came out and denied the choice of the troublemakers for the presidency.

Very conflated statement. The Silent Majority defeated Humphrey who was NOT the choice of the "troublemakers"...remember "Dump the Hump"? The "troublemakers" were crusading against the RATS.

As to degree of unrest, in 68 the big bruhaha was in Chicago at the RAT convention...during a RAT administration. The GOP convention was a few weeks later in Miami and there was little in the way of protests there.

Today, again during a RAT administration, we have a lot deadlier lead-up to the conventions and this time the GOP convention comes first. The Rats have learned, with the help of the MSM AND the GOP, to deflect the rage toward Trump instead of at the administration and Congress that have brought about the conditions we now face.

The guy you referenced in post 43 was not Loomis which is what I was saying. Loomis is an active duty Cleveland cop. He has been on twice now. Once on the phone with Faulkner just after 11 am est and in person about an hour ago before the press conference.

Good call by Kasich. I don’t like the guy, but this is one where he’s right.

Thanks for your thoughts. I agree with you that they have played the long game very well. By “they,” I mean the leftists. We on the side of our Republic need to wake up to stop them from completing their mission.

I still contend that the violence and threats of violence like we saw in 1968, and are again seeing, does not help their side. It goes too far, too fast, and the average person thankfully recoils in horror against it. One hopeful sign that will result from such a reaction is that we would elect someone as the national leader who very clearly will seek to dismantle as much of the edifice that the Leftists have created over the past couple of generations as possible. He understands, as I believe both you and I do, that this is a life-threatening development for our Republic on many levels.

I know this is going to get some bent, but no police officer wants a full scale shooting war on their beat.

Folks, please don’t condemn this statement in haste, as it has been and is continuing to be an emotional week for officers.

The BLM and NBPP have both promised to crash the RNC. You don’t have to be a police officer to contemplate what could happen if armed insurgents rush and occupy the RNC floor.

Create an exclusion zone around the RNC and call it an overwhelming public safety issue in light of current events and intel derived by studying the instigators themselves.

I don’t know. Why not just suspend the 1st amendment as well while you are at it?

Kasich has refused their request.”

About the only smart decision Kasich has made lately. Well, OK, he didn’t allow Kristol suck him down the drain hole. If Kasich had been foolish enough to suspend Ohio’s open carry law he would have opened a whole new arena of problems for himself. After all, the 2nd amendment which includes open carry, was created to enable people to protect themselves in situations such as this as well as many others as well.

The main sentence in that article was: “Police association is wanting Ohio state law regarding open carry suspended so there are no open guns during the Republican convention.”

That’s what I thought you were responding to when you posted “Good.”

Glad you clarified that for me.

You know every time someone mentions protecting the area around the convention in any way you all act like we want to kill the 2nd Amendment.

Three cops were killed today, these a$$h0les are saying they’re coming to Cleveland armed and there’s going to be action.

So what do you suggest to give the cops a fighting chance?
