A Chevy Impala that defines Muscle car
409--The Beach Boys (1962)
Here’s a kinda nice Mustang. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J6f4T9dYrPQ
Use to sneak my brother-in-law’s ‘64 Impala out at 15 yrs old. Yea, the good ole days
Car in the linked video is a very cool ‘69 with some subtle enhancements.
Back in the early ‘90s I had a good friend with a four door 1972 Impala that his dad had kept in impeccable shape. That thing was a true sled but was tons of fun with its unsmogged V8.
My first car was a green ‘63 Impala, inherited from my brother, who taught me how to drive it. I can’t believe I used to drive that thing! He had one of those foam-y steering wheels on it that would whip around if I wasn’t careful, and scar me :-)

Smokey Y u n I c k (autocorrect Watch!) stated that GM wouldn’t have won a race after 1955 had NASCAR rules not been slanted in their favor.
I have no reason to doubt his word.
Three cheers for girls driving ‘63 Impalas.
What shade of green was it?

If you are car guy, you need to read his book if you haven’t.
The whole thing with NASCAR saying you had to be able to walk into your dealer and buy the same parts that they were running was all fine and good except you could not buy the GM 427 parts they were running.
Then when the 426 HEMI started to win they banned that same as when the 427 SOHC Ford.

Here’s a fun little video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D-HFsMb66zs
But except for those years..
he might be right, right?
It was sort of a faded, ashy green - I’d call it ‘sage’. But, it was almost ten years old by the time I got it...
But it was a great beginner-car, even though I had no idea what a difference power steering and brakes would make later; and I drove it for years. It was “freedom”, for a gal like me :-)
The last I saw of it, it was headed toward Pennsylvania, with my brother’s friend and his new wife. We gave it to them, when I bought a second-hand Vega - and mine was actually a very *good* Vega, for my purposes :-)

Thank you for letting me forget about obama and the hildibeast for a little while. I apologize for disparaging Impalas earlier.
Yes:
Yep, I’ll bet it was the lightish green that tends to pop up when you google green Impalas of that year:

And of course now we’ll need to cheer girls with Vegas, which is its own special category...
Throw in a few others, and those are the 70-73 muscle cars I remember......
Drove a 1977 Vega-Monza out of college .... Near-zero power.
Yes, but of course you were doing your part to end the gas shortage.
Looks like a Jetson Spaceship...
In 54, (sic) my dad and Tony Capanna took a Hemi to Indy and blew everyone’s doors off in practice. Then the race officials banned Hemi’s at Indy.
