We lived in the Midwest still, only a few hours away, but it is more the type of home that we lived in. Our past homes hardly had any land at all because we were mostly in the suburbs. Now, as empty nesters, we finally have a bit more, 1-1/2 acres, and we back up to woods and a little creek. Wildlife is often around. Mostly that’s good, I love seeing the variety outside our window, and the change of seasons is particularly pretty with this view.
Sounds lovely. The sound of creek water running is very comforting. I’d have a chair and book out by the creek in the afternoons for sure.
We live in a subdivision that is just outside the city limits of a small rural town of less than 3000 people. We have an acre, and the lots behind us have not been developed.
We have our own well, and septic system. We hope to someday buy those lots behind us. They do have city utilities available, but we would likely just use them for growing food and maybe a garden shed with maybe an attached bathroom, or at least a faucet for another source of water.
When the kids were small, they called the backyard, and the lots behind us, the Forest. Many adventures and games kept them busy then.
