Prosecutors in Colorado cleared a sheriffs deputy in an officer-involved shooting that included a shot right down the barrel of an attempted robbers pistol.
Deputy Jose Marquez was cleared by Arapahoe County prosecutors Wednesday for his role in a shooting that took place in January. As reported by the Aurora Sentinel, Marquez was off-duty and visiting his girlfriend when he was shot in both the abdomen and shoulder during a gunfight with two robbery suspects in an apartment parking lot.
Marquez, who was in civilian clothes at the time, was confronted by the two armed men who opened fire first. Returning fire, the deputy injured Jhalil Meshesha who was later arrested.
Mesheshas gun, a Springfield XD, was disabled during the exchange of fire by one of Marquezs bullets after it remarkably traveled down the barrel from muzzle to chamber and jammed the action in what officials call a one in a billion shot.
Marquez is still recovering from his wounds and the second, unidentified suspect, is at large.

He should play the lottery.
Deputy Jose Marquez heard a disembodied voice telling him
” The Force is with you” whereupon he quit aiming and just fired his gun, mking his shot hit.
I’ve put thousands of rounds through both of my XD pistols. They eat everything. And I mean everything flawlessly.
I carry one every day.

These are called jokes ;)
But how to disable a 3 ton truck coming after you? Or bigger?
If a muslim reads this, do you feel radical yet?
Aren’t jokes supposed to be funny?
Yeah, but he was aiming with his rear view mirror and shot over his left shoulder, while standing on one leg.
Several years ago, we had a robbery here at a Walgreens. A CCW holder shot down the barrel of the robbers shotgun.
Afterward, there was some argument over where the robber was pointing the gun (some people saying the CCW holder was never in any danger and should not have shot). It was pretty obvious to most people, but there were a number of people who were posting that the CCW holder “could have curved the bullet into the barrel”.
I did not know what they were talking about until someone mentioned a second rate movie that did that. The posters could not believe it was “movie magic” (not real).
One activity involved a 360 degree environment of walls, windows, etc.
As I entered one room I was confronted by a target depicting an armed criminal holding a hostage. I fired immediately and hit the criminal's gun.
The instructor pointed out that this is actually a frequent occurrence because a defender focusses his attention on the criminal's gun. It's actually an error because one should be shooting at the center-of-mass of the exposed part of the criminal.
Cool. Didn't know that. Makes sense though considering the times.
