Ever wonder about your vocabulary size? Even if you are a daily English speaker or a native English speaker, you still might find this test challenging!
We conducted academic research and looked at online resources to design the model of this quiz. We believe we've prepared the best quiz for you!
Good for you. I don't think I'd trust anyone who knows the meaning of "avulse". And I hate authors who sit with a thesaurus and change normal words to stupid words.
But I want my president to be someone who understands the meaning of the word "terrorist".

> The test they used on DU is completely different. The test gives you two pages of words and ask you to check the one you know. So, as usual, they can make outrageous claims without the need to prove them.
That test does include more difficult words, and it’s possible to receive a higher score (higher vocabulary estimate). As you point out, though, you yourself check the words you know, so if you think you know some but are mistaken (and don’t verify the meaning in a dictionary), your score will be deceptively high.
I missed “avulse”, and got 30325 on the test in this thread. On the one in the other thread, I left these words unchecked — epigone, embonpoint, cantle, oneiromancy, williwaw, funambulist, hypnopompic, opsimath, sparge — and got 41900.

OK, let's start with Libsgone...! I like it.
I forgot the word count because SweetiePalm wanted to take the test.
I have read a lot for a long time. I write Science Fiction because I haven't ever read something like what I write.
I don't find it surprising that FReepers would tend toward the high end of the population.
