beginning with pertussis as a toddler,

Pertussis is so - modern.

I just had plain old whooping cough. ;-)

Followed some years later by mumps, measles, and chicken pox all in the same school year. My brain is saying it was when I was in fourth grade but that factoid is an iffy memory. The dating that is, not the 'all in the same year' thing. ;-)

Odd. I never had mumps, but I had three-day measles several times as a kid, but never got the German measles (hard measles) until I was 29. But chicken pox, yes. Ugly disease, that. My son had it far worse than I did. I had it when I was seven (maybe) and my son, poor little tyke, got it when he was two.

He was so covered with them and suffered so much...I dressd him in my husband’s T-shirt so nothing would rub against the blisters, and had to cover him with oatmeal ointment to try and help dry them out.

He had them on his eyelids and in his mouth, and he wanted cream of tomato soup. And cried with every bite.

But I digress.

I was fairly healthy as a kid, and got all the childhood diseases but one — mumps.
