“So Venus is considering leaving the solar system?”
That’s what the tabloids are saying. It’s been a long time brewing, but Venus really has had it with the whole “competing with Earth for Mars’ attention” deal. The rumors are ricocheting around the Asteroid Belt that she’s finally done. Between Venus and Earth, Venus is the hotter body, she’s got the closer connections with Sol — you’d expect she’d get some real traction wooing Mars, but it hasn’t worked out that way; Earth has been getting between them all along. And Earth, for her part, has been making way to big a deal out of the whole “being inhabited” thing; just out-and-out flaunting it. There’s no humility at all, there. Quite the contrary, she’s been broadcasting that reality to the entire universe at every opportunity. And this entire blow-up is just that much more galling because Venus and Earth have a closer relationship than any of the rest of the planets, and it just seems Earth doesn’t care at all.
So, yeah, the chatter is that Venus just doesn’t feel like the solar System is “home,” anymore. Mercury hasn’t been vocal about it, but as the next-closest to Venus he confided that he thinks Venus is hunting for an exit vector; maybe a less rural planetary system closer to the galactic core. Seems a very long way from what we’ve come to think of as “the norm,” but — hey — things change, and if Venus can swing it, maybe she’ll find a whole, new and better place to shine, ‘cuz Heaven knows she’s got the look.
You glow, girl!
LOL! Excellent! As the song says, “Git outen the way, boys! She’s gonna unwind!”
I gotta say that I empathize and sympathize with Venus. Where exactly is this galactic core? Are directions available on my Garmin? Mercury is very welcome to join us. In terms of collateral damage, are we going to create some sort of vacuum that will knock everyone out of whack? (Inquiring minds....)
