Wow. That’s really something! I went to Central Park once, but never saw that. But I was tired of walking.
All I know is that the capacitor from one of the old-style TVs could still put 700 or mover volts through you after many minutes of being powered off.
Capacitors is powerful stuff.
It’s good that there’s a cat.
The best way to keep your mind clean is to change it often. This is why men have dirtier minds than women.
We had a thunderstorm last night. Tom the Mocker just took a bath in a puddle. Now he’s back on his high perch, acting all cold and offended.
We are supposed to have rain most of today, followed by cooling temps. No freezing expected AFAIK
Our forecast says we might get more rain, but the front that came through last night is way off east now.
We have rain in the forecast for tomorrow, I think, but I will wait and see.
It’s nice to get back to my humdrum normal existence. I have my grocery list ready and hope the check somehow gets here by Saturday, so I don’t have to wait to pay bills and buy food.
I went to Wally’s this morning, and found a frozen dinner of enchiladas. There was a BIG frozen tray of them at one end of the freezer case, but I would have had to feed the Peeps in order to justify that big a tray.
But I’m good until payday, whenever that is, so thanks!
I need to put gas in the truck and get it washed, too, as well as get a trim on my hair. And in case you were wondering, there was frost on the windshield this morning when I left for Wally’s. It happens ever year, but I never think to get an ice scraper...so I just now put it on my list.
Thank you and good morning!
Sutureself. When I was young Silver Dollar City introdued a rainmaker who had all the modern appliances for bringing the rain, including a wind machine - although if you turned the crank the wrong way it was an unwind machine.
Anyway, I thought his sidekick, whom we would now call a Native Amerian had a better approach. I stil remember the dance if you need it.
That's because you're down there, not up here..
There is white outside. And the winter storm claimed a victim right in front (sort of) the house at the T intersection. A female driving a white coloured car of somekind took the right turn to fast and slid in the direction of previous motion. Instead of turning south she continued east (at a strange angle) and took out the stop sign with the side of her white vehicle of somekind. This was followed in rapid order by her running out of pavement to slide on. Unfortunately the shoulder isn't. Shoulder in that spot is more properly classified as 'ditch' and that's where she stopped.
But she did end up pointing in her intended direction..
Now I wonder how many cars will not stop due to the non-visible stopsign and end up in our drive..
That sounds decidedly winterish.
We had rain in Ar-KAN-sas the whole time I was there, but it was colder in the house than it was outside. I only took my jacket off to sleep and shower. Really sad story, that.
I came home to 37 degrees for a high, and frost on my windshield. I’m glad I’m not a New Year’s Reveler. I wouldn’t be on the Strip in the cold with a bunch of drunks for anything in the world. No. Not. Never. Nada.
I’ll stay in where it’s warm and hope I don’t have to hear any local revelers. Sleep is the best way to welcome in the New Year.... Of course, I could always drag out my New Year 2000 tape and watch it...
Word is there will be 65 of our trucks blockading Times Square.
I could get paid a nice differential to sit in a truck and watch the ball drop.
Except I’m a desk jockey without a CDL.
So I’ll pass or watch on TV like I always do.
Seriously, 3 miles away and I wouldn’t go near it unless I could get paid to sit in a truck.
Yep. I know how that works. And I’m with you: I wouldn’t go near it. Unless, of course, the pay was good! :o])
An update of sorts.
The town is really on the ball. They have replaced the mowed-down stopsign. (If it was on a county road it wouldn’t get replaced until spring.. ;-)
Guess we won’t be having startled motorists ending up in our driveway after all.
Well, that is a GOOD update!
The day is getting prettier by the minute. Almost warm! When I was able to focus on those things around me, instead of being overwhelmed by unpacking, I was able to notice that Mt Charleston has a good layer of snow. If the rain comes tomorrow, the snow will be deep enough to sustain the onslaught of skiers and snowboarders.
As long as it doesn’t snow in the valley, I’m a happy person! I love to see the snow on the mountains, but I don’t like driving in it or walking in it. I fall way too often to like it except to look at!
DP and I may go out to the wine store on Friday night, but he has to get up early Saturday to get Bill the Son from the airport, and I have to sing at church on Sunday, so the debauchery will be subdued.
I don't suppose anyone thought to fill them with approved materials? You know, like pig skins, lard, ham bones, rotting hog carcasses - as purely a psychological deterrent mind you.
Seems improbable, and also so smelly that it would really mess with the event.
