Pluto isn't quite as lonely as scientists had thought.
Astronomers have discovered another dwarf planet in the Kuiper Belt, the ring of icy objects beyond Neptune. But this newfound world, dubbed 2015 RR245, is much more distant than Pluto, orbiting the sun once every 700 Earth years, scientists said. (Pluto completes one lap around the sun every 248 Earth years.)
"The icy worlds beyond Neptune trace how the giant planets formed and then moved out from the sun," discovery team member Michele Bannister, of the University of Victoria in British Columbia, said in a statement. "They let us piece together the history of our solar system."
...
The exact size of 2015 RR245 is not yet known, but the researchers think it's about 435 miles (700 kilometers) wide. Pluto is the largest resident of the Kuiper Belt, with a diameter of 1,474 miles (2,371 km).
The research team first spotted 2015 RR245 in February of this year, while poring over images that the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope in Hawaii took in September 2015 as part of the ongoing Outer Solar System Origins Survey (OSSOS).
"There it was on the screen this dot of light moving so slowly that it had to be at least twice as far as Neptune from the sun," Bannister said.

Are you sure that’s a feline? That snout and coloration looks more like a new born hyena.
And tiny it is! My goodness! Squee!!!

Here he is as a teenager.
Shannon just came and chewed me out because she'd knocked over her food bowl. Someday all the children will leave, and I will be a servant only to catz.
Amazing how cats can morph into almost anything. They inspired the liquid metal character in the Terminator movie you know.
Sleek deadly morphing killers with nine lives... think on that for a moment.
;>)
I may never sleep again.
Sounds like Voldemort.
That helped a lot, Bob.
I’ve been reading a lot of Potter fan-fiction. And Worm fan-fiction too.
And even cross-overs. Fan-fiction is a weird world.
I just read a free book on Google Play Books called Once Gone by Blake Pierce about an FBI agent who had herself been abducted and tortured now looking for a killer who abducts and tortures women.
Since then it’s interesting to see people claiming that woman who was found on Thanksgiving couldn’t have really been abducted since she can’t describe her captors. I guess those people don’t have the imagination Pierce has since his women never saw their captors and were so messed up after being found they couldn’t describe much of anything.
Did anyone ever write the story about how Hermione married Voldemort and that’s how Hillary Clinton was born (later to be adopted by the Rodhams when she was even too evil for the two of them to keep)?
What a pretty kitteh!
I'm not even in possession of a feline, and that gives me flashbacks to the first Terminator movie. (Not too bad for a "B" movie!)
But I'm with T-c...I may sleep with one ear open for the odd cat that makes it over my gate.
I’m doing a review on a Kindle book for tweens and young adults, set in the USSR in 1983. It’s pretty interesting, for a kid’s book. I will have to give it an excellent review. :o] I liked it!
Silly hooman. Hoomans doesn’t own catz. Catz owns hoomans!
Yes. That. :o]
Afternoon. I had a successful shoe-shopping trip with the girls.
I forgot what it was like to go shoe shopping! LOL! Obviously, folks still do that, right?
Lots of folks, from the number of shoe stores. Nothing at Walmart or Payless ever fits the girls. We had to go to “Off Broadway.”
Meaning you came home with both the girls and some new shoes???
Sure.
