Pluto isn't quite as lonely as scientists had thought.
Astronomers have discovered another dwarf planet in the Kuiper Belt, the ring of icy objects beyond Neptune. But this newfound world, dubbed 2015 RR245, is much more distant than Pluto, orbiting the sun once every 700 Earth years, scientists said. (Pluto completes one lap around the sun every 248 Earth years.)
"The icy worlds beyond Neptune trace how the giant planets formed and then moved out from the sun," discovery team member Michele Bannister, of the University of Victoria in British Columbia, said in a statement. "They let us piece together the history of our solar system."
...
The exact size of 2015 RR245 is not yet known, but the researchers think it's about 435 miles (700 kilometers) wide. Pluto is the largest resident of the Kuiper Belt, with a diameter of 1,474 miles (2,371 km).
The research team first spotted 2015 RR245 in February of this year, while poring over images that the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope in Hawaii took in September 2015 as part of the ongoing Outer Solar System Origins Survey (OSSOS).
"There it was on the screen this dot of light moving so slowly that it had to be at least twice as far as Neptune from the sun," Bannister said.

Yes it was! W00t!
Well, the longest we had was Nandakumar Sangameshwaran. We just called him “Nanda.”
How does someone like that ever learn to spell his name as a kid?
So, you put Sri in front of a cookbook?
Are other books ever sacred?
They use “sounds” rather than letters. ;o]
While I nodded, nearly napping,
Suddenly there came a tapping.
As if someone wanted me to grab an important post.
But, alas, I was too late.
As was I, she said, shaking the Christmas catalog images from her mind...*shudder* Too. Much. Money!
There were three of us at the ramada, and we all give in to the wind. 50 degrees, NW @ 7 mph, 30% DANG! I hate the cold.
A Harry and David catalog came today, and when I’m done drooling on it, I will take it to LuDean so she can drool on it as well.
Pears with cheese and wine. Yes. That sounds excellent. I will order some for all the peeps. Hahahaha!
(Those pears you sent several years ago were some of the best I’ve had since I was a kid.)
Who knows ?. :)
If a Cow can be sacred, I suppose anything can.....
We are currently well below Zero degrees at night, but it won’t last ,the Altantic is about to provide a warmer weekend.
I will keep the pears in mind (when they go on markdown!).
I didn’t go to Walmart earlier, but now I will. *sigh* I don’t want to go to Walmart. Why do I always have to go to Walmart?
Perchik: Money is the world’s curse.
Tevye: May the Lord smite me with it. And may I never recover.
Because K-mart sucks?
If I could have my druthers, I’d druther have crumpets and lemon curd. If.
Or not. I mean, I don’t have to have any of it. It’s just nice to think about.
Cold nasty wind, though the sun is shining brightly, and the barometer is dropping, along with the storm glass getting more crystals. And my back, the best barometer ever, says bad weather is on the way.
And so, having done enough damage for one day, and giving up on managing any mischief, I’m heading for bed where it’s warm and flannelly.
See all y’all in the morning.
Have a good night.
Here in NYC we’re dealing with the fact that our reports system created 3.5 million records. Somehow our UI doesn’t validate dates and it accepted a date of 11/29/16 as 11/29/0016. The reports system dutifully created snapshots from 0016 to 2016 as it was programmed to do.
Oh what fun!
I’m thinking about what it means that our report can have Jesus mainning a garbage truck in 0016.
That’s Jesus the Spanish pronunciation, of course.
I was lying awake last night pondering how do you clean the mirrors in one of those house of mirrors that are at the county fair. Is the spot on this mirror or the next one, or the next or the next one,or the next one,or the next one. Then it occurred to me, cleaning mirrors is a job I could see myself doing.
You do a lot of reflecting, don’t you?
LOL and *Groan*. :)

This tiny kitten was rescued in New Zealand.
