Pluto isn't quite as lonely as scientists had thought.
Astronomers have discovered another dwarf planet in the Kuiper Belt, the ring of icy objects beyond Neptune. But this newfound world, dubbed 2015 RR245, is much more distant than Pluto, orbiting the sun once every 700 Earth years, scientists said. (Pluto completes one lap around the sun every 248 Earth years.)
"The icy worlds beyond Neptune trace how the giant planets formed and then moved out from the sun," discovery team member Michele Bannister, of the University of Victoria in British Columbia, said in a statement. "They let us piece together the history of our solar system."
...
The exact size of 2015 RR245 is not yet known, but the researchers think it's about 435 miles (700 kilometers) wide. Pluto is the largest resident of the Kuiper Belt, with a diameter of 1,474 miles (2,371 km).
The research team first spotted 2015 RR245 in February of this year, while poring over images that the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope in Hawaii took in September 2015 as part of the ongoing Outer Solar System Origins Survey (OSSOS).
"There it was on the screen this dot of light moving so slowly that it had to be at least twice as far as Neptune from the sun," Bannister said.

LOL,
Lactose intolerance can be a real stinker.
Hi! My name’s NoNoBadDog. What’s yours?
That’s a slicky place to play. How can you get any traction?
Good morning/afternoon, ganag!
It’s MONDAY! The laundry has been sorted, the fresh towels are in the bathroom and fresh sheets are sitting on the bed, awaiting deployment, and my Monday jobs are just starting. Ungh.
I may have to have a breathing treatment before I go to the laundry room. I really hope the day is better than it appears to be starting out.
With any luck, I’ll get the truck washed today. I have enough left over from the stash for the servicing to do that, and it needs it. Dusty, dusty, dusty!
And I’ll stop at Wally’s on the way and get a refill on ink so all the missives can be mailed. I’m anxious to see what will happen with the postal clerk...
I’m guessing that the black cat went in the bathtub to be cool, and the stripy kitten jumped in so he could play. I have occasionally found one of our cats in the bathtub; I suspect nefarious motives.
Good luck with all your washing!
The laundry is two loads. When I was washing at Busdaddy’s, I could do four or five loads, but I can’t use more than two machines here, so I have to wash every week, no matter how I feel. I sure hope the places in St. George have washers and dryers in the apartments. Or at least washers, with clotheslines out back.
And windows. Lots of windows!
The kittehs looks like just a few months apart in age, so maybe siblings?
It’s a cute pic, anyway.
The striped one is all twisty.
Tom the Son was sighted yesterday, when they took the younger boys to camp. Sally said he looks like he hasn’t washed since he left. I figure she’s exaggerating a little, but *shudder*.
Oh, yes. I’m familiar with that “unwashed” look and I echo your *shudder*!
I need to find a bit of chocolate to take to the laundry room so I don’t use my laundry money on a candy bar. I hate when I do that.
Good luck!
I need to get going on something useful here - we don’t leave for Kathleen’s swimming lesson until 9:20.
Yep. I need to get a bottle of water and a piece of chocolate and head for the washers.
Good Monday!
That should cover all the time zones.
I don’t know how you can call it a bad day when you already have the laundry done and folded.
It’s Monday and the hard part is almost over with. The bed is still waiting for clean sheets, but I just had another morphine, so the bed will be done, soon.
Bottle of water
piece of chocolate
washing machine
What could go wrong?
;>)
The warranty on my washer doesn't cover that formula, only machine type soap or detergents.
Yep

Hahaha! “What could go wrong?” he sez. When I went to put the sheets in the dryer, the edge of the dryer door frame caught my forearm and with fragile skin from 40 years of being on baby aspirin, it ripped open. GAAAAAH!
But the sheets and towels have been put away, and I just have the top sheet to put on the bed, and the days’ work is done.
Yay me.
