Pluto isn't quite as lonely as scientists had thought.
Astronomers have discovered another dwarf planet in the Kuiper Belt, the ring of icy objects beyond Neptune. But this newfound world, dubbed 2015 RR245, is much more distant than Pluto, orbiting the sun once every 700 Earth years, scientists said. (Pluto completes one lap around the sun every 248 Earth years.)
"The icy worlds beyond Neptune trace how the giant planets formed and then moved out from the sun," discovery team member Michele Bannister, of the University of Victoria in British Columbia, said in a statement. "They let us piece together the history of our solar system."
...
The exact size of 2015 RR245 is not yet known, but the researchers think it's about 435 miles (700 kilometers) wide. Pluto is the largest resident of the Kuiper Belt, with a diameter of 1,474 miles (2,371 km).
The research team first spotted 2015 RR245 in February of this year, while poring over images that the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope in Hawaii took in September 2015 as part of the ongoing Outer Solar System Origins Survey (OSSOS).
"There it was on the screen this dot of light moving so slowly that it had to be at least twice as far as Neptune from the sun," Bannister said.

Good morning.
There has to be at least on additional kitty that has the dark patch directly centered on the nose. Range locked, target lock...
Must be artillery breed.
Somehow, Moosie, I just knew you would be the one to post the Morning Kitteh!
Thanks, from your adoring fan! ;o])
Those are sweet kittens. I’m planning to take a shower soon, unless I decide to sleep more. Eventually, I will have to do some vocal exercises, but I didn’t want to torture my hosts this early.
Life is good!
True.
Good Morning ,
Hope we are all keeping well.
Have had Thunder Storms All Day today, a welcome relief from the heat and humidity.
The last two nights have been busy ,with the prospect of another two as well.
But ,Do not Fret.....The Kitten Always gets through ! :)
I hope the next two nights go well.
...precedes the caterwauling and blitz maul and kill phases.
Thanks ,TC. So do We.
There is Buck or two resting on it.
Last night was mass programming night. Data sticks and CDs everywhere.
The Debugging started this morning.....all things being equal. (Lol)
Oh, that. Good luck with the bugs!
I’m supposed to sing this afternoon and tomorrow, but my voice has gone missing. I can’t bring out a clear note even in deep baritone.
Oh, no! Not that! I hope your voice comes back before you have to sing.
I’m having some tea with honey. Next I will lie on the floor and breathe. If I can’t produce a decent sound in an hour or so, I will have to let the choir go on without me, while I run the sound board.
The breathing exercises helped. I have *something* now. If I have to lie on the church floor and aspirate HAAAA, I will look like a fool and get dirty!
I looked for some bourbon, but all my friends have is Jameson’s Irish whiskey and something bright blue.
Wonderful shot of a Samsung Phone, there...
Wow. I don’t drink anything brown. It has to be clear or pink!
I have to lie down for a bit. I had a rough night, and have been up since 0300.
LOL! I’ll have to remember that!
A good bourbon is gold. Anyway, the service was a success. I had my voice when I needed it and not a second longer.
It all came out of my neck muscles which is terrible technique. Now I have a headache. I will drink a small sedative and lie down. Have to be back at church at 5:30 to set up for a dinner.
I’m glad your voice was there when you needed it! Did you get a good rest?
