Pluto isn't quite as lonely as scientists had thought.
Astronomers have discovered another dwarf planet in the Kuiper Belt, the ring of icy objects beyond Neptune. But this newfound world, dubbed 2015 RR245, is much more distant than Pluto, orbiting the sun once every 700 Earth years, scientists said. (Pluto completes one lap around the sun every 248 Earth years.)
"The icy worlds beyond Neptune trace how the giant planets formed and then moved out from the sun," discovery team member Michele Bannister, of the University of Victoria in British Columbia, said in a statement. "They let us piece together the history of our solar system."
...
The exact size of 2015 RR245 is not yet known, but the researchers think it's about 435 miles (700 kilometers) wide. Pluto is the largest resident of the Kuiper Belt, with a diameter of 1,474 miles (2,371 km).
The research team first spotted 2015 RR245 in February of this year, while poring over images that the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope in Hawaii took in September 2015 as part of the ongoing Outer Solar System Origins Survey (OSSOS).
"There it was on the screen this dot of light moving so slowly that it had to be at least twice as far as Neptune from the sun," Bannister said.

Sorry...I was gathering wool.
W00t!
:-)
It came from out of the Sun.
I was eating lunch and helping Bill apply for jobs.
The monkey did it. ;o]
I was actually debating on whether to scan some photos now or do it when I come back in from being with the peeps. Some decisions take longer than others, for some reason. :o|
I slept in until 0510 this morning, but it was because I woke up at 2330 and couldn’t get back to sleep for three hours. My bad.
My first order of the day was to go to Walmart and get the yogurt and the rice pudding. It seems the only yogurt that there is a lot of is Chobani, and that’s made by a “refugee” to this country. I don’t want to fund terrorists, and that’s what I would be doing. It would seem a lot of other people feel the same way — Chobani is good, and comes in lots of flavors, but...
This has been a messed up week, so far. It seems the only thing I really got done was sorting photos to be scanned. Ungh.
Wall, if I spelt it kerrectly, Theodin is the king of Rohan in “The Lord of The Rings.”
Thanks for the info.
My favorite “Bored” character was Tim Benzadrine.
Smoke a lid, toke a lid, pass the mescaline-o
Stash the hash, gonna crash, make mine methedrine-o
Hop a hill, pop a pill, for ol’ Tim Benzadrine-o
Those were the days.
I just went to Walmart, too. With Kathleen. Soon it will be our naptime!
Wow... you remembered!
funny stuff, one of the Lampoon’s best works.
Some things you just don’t forget.
We are the stealthy green toupees
Stalking nights and snoozing days
A team of silent, nasty men
Who all think Sorehead’s numbah 10.
Draw their fire!
Flank on right!
Narcs retire!
Fight, team, fight!
Using every dirty trick from booby trap to pungee stick
We hardly need the strength of thirty when we can win by playing dirty.

You’re welcome. :)
LOL!!!!
How about killing two birds with one stone and name it after one of the seven dwarfs AND Obama- Dopey!
Unfortunately, sir, you’ve been sucked into the void.
People do escape, but they are never the same.
is delta still not flying???
My brother in CO emailed me a few days ago, saying he had something to send me, and needed my address. It came today.
It’s my mother’s personal history, as far as she kept it up, in her own handwriting. I had no idea it even existed! I will start to read it tomorrow morning. There are some interesting photos in there, as well, a lot of them of her when she was growing up. I’m overwhelmed at the moment.
Amazing.
Even more amazing is her handwriting. It looks a lot like mine after the nuns got hold of me, but I’ve now gone back to “the original.” Still, wow.
How exciting!
I hope they’re back and with all their equipment at all the right airports so our flight is smooth tomorrow.
How much could the parts that don’t say, “And then Face was born” be worth?
