New Dwarf Planet Discovered Far Beyond Pluto's Orbit
space.com ^ | 07/11/2016

Pluto isn't quite as lonely as scientists had thought.

Astronomers have discovered another dwarf planet in the Kuiper Belt, the ring of icy objects beyond Neptune. But this newfound world, dubbed 2015 RR245, is much more distant than Pluto, orbiting the sun once every 700 Earth years, scientists said. (Pluto completes one lap around the sun every 248 Earth years.)

"The icy worlds beyond Neptune trace how the giant planets formed and then moved out from the sun," discovery team member Michele Bannister, of the University of Victoria in British Columbia, said in a statement. "They let us piece together the history of our solar system."

...

The exact size of 2015 RR245 is not yet known, but the researchers think it's about 435 miles (700 kilometers) wide. Pluto is the largest resident of the Kuiper Belt, with a diameter of 1,474 miles (2,371 km).

The research team first spotted 2015 RR245 in February of this year, while poring over images that the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope in Hawaii took in September 2015 as part of the ongoing Outer Solar System Origins Survey (OSSOS).

"There it was on the screen — this dot of light moving so slowly that it had to be at least twice as far as Neptune from the sun," Bannister said.

Two Opinel knives.

Correct! Most excellent spotting moose.

French folding knives with a ring lock collet.

Bought my first one in the sixties at a bait and tackle shop on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Good carbon steel. Price was ridiculously low.
Very light weight, my every day carry in NYC for years... but it’s not a kitchen knife, at least not the ones shown.

I think he designed the website at the College Foundation of North Carolina.

Rhesus Monkeys are well known for their website creation abilities.....if it was almost unusable it may be one of theirs.

Before I read another post, my answer is, the two knives on the ends. NOT belong in kitchen!

Talk about floofy!

And I’ve been up nearly an hour. I’ve been sorting laundry and doing geeky things on the PC like reading the news headlines from St George.

As I was lying in bed this morning, I asked myself why I couldn’t wake up just once and feel the joy of living like I once did. CFIDS’ll getcha every time. :o|

And here I sit with a stack of photos, mostly black and white for the current bunch, that my scanner won’t scan. Everything comes out black and in multiple copies. So this morning, after my laundry is done, I’m going to Walmart and pick up an Epson Home Office printer. I just put the doggone things through too much to get one that a sometime-geek would use.

Whatever works. The only thing I do with the copier/scanner is copy songs for the choir or insurance cards for every purpose.

I synchronized Tom’s and Elen’s school schedules last night. It’s not going to be too bad: DP can drop Elen at school most mornings, and often Tom can pick her up.

Morning Face.

“reading the news headlines from St George.”

Reconnaissance, excellent !
Nothing quite a handy as having the lowdown on the neighbourhood before your wagon train rolls into town.

Some people need to finish their coffee before they start driving.

I lived in St George for about four years, and that’s why my niece and nephew and their various kids live there. They came to visit, liked it, moved there, and I got divorced, couldn’t find a job and moved here.

It will always be a nice place for me. I was happy there. For the most part.

See, you could probably use the printer I have for 8-10 years. I’m too rough on them.

Too many papers and photos to print and scan. I always keep a supply of photo paper on hand, too, in case I want to print some of the older pics.

That should free up your schedule enough to take care of the needs of the younger Chicklets, so it’s a good thing!

And now I need to hang the clothes.

Back from yoga. I would have been back sooner, but we lost Pat.

After lunch, Elen will drive me to the Post Office for stamps, and then we’ll go up to CP, where she can practice backing and three-point turns in the parking lot.

If I don’t come back, remember it wasn’t my fault ...

You mean “Footfall” was real?? I thought it was just a Sci-Fi book.

And, don’t I remember something about dirty dishes done dirt cheap?

Or is my mind playing tricks on me.

“Some people need to finish their coffee before they start driving. “

And for me, coffee all the way to work too. I don’t text, I guzzle.

That would be the Epic Fail Dishwashing Service, whose motto is: You Get What You Pay For.
