Pluto isn't quite as lonely as scientists had thought.
Astronomers have discovered another dwarf planet in the Kuiper Belt, the ring of icy objects beyond Neptune. But this newfound world, dubbed 2015 RR245, is much more distant than Pluto, orbiting the sun once every 700 Earth years, scientists said. (Pluto completes one lap around the sun every 248 Earth years.)
"The icy worlds beyond Neptune trace how the giant planets formed and then moved out from the sun," discovery team member Michele Bannister, of the University of Victoria in British Columbia, said in a statement. "They let us piece together the history of our solar system."
...
The exact size of 2015 RR245 is not yet known, but the researchers think it's about 435 miles (700 kilometers) wide. Pluto is the largest resident of the Kuiper Belt, with a diameter of 1,474 miles (2,371 km).
The research team first spotted 2015 RR245 in February of this year, while poring over images that the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope in Hawaii took in September 2015 as part of the ongoing Outer Solar System Origins Survey (OSSOS).
"There it was on the screen this dot of light moving so slowly that it had to be at least twice as far as Neptune from the sun," Bannister said.

Maybe from the rain, but as far as the animation shows he was walking a fine line, high and dry pawses.
Turns out I didn’t have to sing to Bill. He got up before that ultimate step.
Jack the Refugee Dragon is trying to break out of his cage.
When I failed to do my designated chores, I “missed” various privileges, those being withheld until my attitude was re-adjusted in a demonstrable manner.
If my failure to perform such chores was of a critical nature, I "missed" being able to sit for the remainder of the day.
It didn’t work for me. It was just a still pic with magnifier option.
(I’m practicing for my move to Utah...) Oh, my HECK! The dragon is excaping!
Did you try the link. I tested before posting and the animation page came up.
Oh.... forgot it’s one of your weird computers
;>)
I got him out of bed, made him wash up, and then had him drive his brothers to Mass.
DP says Jack didn’t have a heat lamp in his previous home. Now he’s sitting high on his rock, high up by the lamp, with his mouth open. “Aaaaaah .... heat!”
We’re going to move him into a bigger cage, and Santana into the smaller one, but we need more sand and Walmart only had purple.
Yes, my computer is definitely weird, and when it breathes its last, I will NEVER own or use another Dell from new Dellhi, TX, EVER.
Can they tell the difference in colors as opposed to just shades of gray?
Wow. Poor Jack. No heat? What a lousy thing for a dragon to endure. I’m glad he has a new home where he can be cared for by real people.
I don’t know. They can tell when another dragon changes his/her beard color, but I don’t know if they’re seeing “color” or just lighter/darker.
The problem with purple sand is that they ingest some sand with their food, and we don’t know if the purple dye would affect them.
It was pretty warm weather there at the coast, but too humid for his best health, and not as hot as Central Australia.
Elen plans to take him back to camp for Reptile and Amphibian Study next year, when she’ll be Ecology Area Director, and bring him home at the end of the season.
Purple sand passing through a Dragon... just might produce Amethyst.... nah
It might clump up in his digestive tract. Not good.
Great googa-mooga, but they need a whole mess of special stuff, lighting, heat, lizard mats, and on and on...

I see what that “impaction” is a serious concern. Sand sub-strates are not recommended...?
Sand is actually okay, if you give them plenty of things to climb on. We haven’t had any blockage issues with ours. Things run right through if they’re eating right, and a good warm bath helps, too.
They're growing troll hair!
Clever!
Face, see anything that will fit your purse, to go along with your tag line?
