I wish there was a way to use a tranquilizer sword instead of a real one, so that I could stand there in front of 10K people and go head to head against a charging bull. I think the sport is cruel as hell, although as a Roman history junkie it is interesting to observe the only real last vestige of the gladiatorial games (boxing, wrestling, etc are much more universal and found everywhere, bullfighting is pretty much a direct lineal decedent of the Roman games); yeah, animals have to die so that we can eat, but killing anything other than a murderer or rapist painfully is wrong.

If you don’t have a decent chance of dying, it’s not a sport, it’s a game.

I used to go to the bullfights in Ciudad Acuna on Sundays. Prior to the fights, the bulls lived a life of leisure and were well fed and taken care of. Its their culture for bullfighting, not ours. Judge them if they wish to do it here, not there.

If the people running the bull fights are smart, they
should not kill the bull because it gored to death a
matador. Instead they could sell even more tickets for the next
fight this bull is in by advertising the fight with
the "bull who killed the matador!"
Lots of people would pay to see that fight!

As people have mentioned, fighting bulls live much happier lives than the critter YOU just ate for dinner. Do the fighting bulls suffer? Yeah, for about 20 minutes, which is the length of a professional bullfight. Big deal.
