Premlims airing now on Fox Sports 2 (sorry)
Will be on Fox Sports 1 when the Yankee game is over, in extra innings
Main Card on PPV
Miesta Tate defends her Women's BW belt against Amanda Nunes.
Former HW Champ Brock Lesnar returns and faces Mark Hunt
LHW Champ DC takes on Anderson Silva in a non-title bout, after Jon Jones is pulled from the card (sigh).
Former featherweight Champ Jose Aldo takes on Former LW Champ Franke Edgar for the Interim FW title. Conor probably never goes back to FW so I don't know why this isn't for the real belt, but whatever.
Cain Velasquez/Travis Browne starts off the main card
Prelims
Zingano/Julianna Peña Hendricks/Gastelum Dillashaw/Assunção Northcutt/Marín
The 3 fight pass prelims were all good matches too
I never really know what to think of Mitrione. One thing I like is that his fights rarely goes to a decision.
Yeah, real shocker.
I just like Mitrione a lot, because he’s a really likable guy.
Certainly not the best fighter I’ve ever seen, but I love to root for him.
Looks like Semtex got handled pretty darn well by Lima. This makes me happy, because I generally do not like Daley, way too arrogant for my tastes.
But here Daley is after the fight showing a lot of grace and class in defeat, so that is good, that makes me respect him.
And now back to Spike’s usual programming, COPS!
Impy, check this out-
“But the most devastating moment of Bellator 158 was Michael Venom Page’s flying knee KO vs Evangelista Cyborg Santos. Cyborg ended up with a fractured skull from the strike. The worst MMA injury Joe Rogan has ever seen.”
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jDcHNjsE3tU
A picture in the video shows a visible concave dent directly over his eyebrows, and the xrays indicates multiple radiating fractures to the skull.
Woah! I hope he’ll be ok.
Career-ending injury? A possibility at least.
I think I read in the comments that he’s had to retire. I don’t know if that is official, but the man cannot even return home at this point. Doctors are afraid to perform surgery due to continued swelling of the brain.
He’s lucky not to have died, a single bone shard into the brain is enough to kill.
But even recovered, if he takes another shot to that area, his life is at risk. I don’t see how he continues in the cage at this point.
MVP is now officially scary.
Good speech by Dana White at the GOP convention. I’ll post a you tube link when one is up.
I’m pretty sure I won’t be able to do a UFC thread tomorrow (Well, Today, Sat) I’ve got a family reunion, my grandfather is turning 90. Maybe I’ll set one up before I leave but I might not have time.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UFC_on_Fox:_Holm_vs._Shevchenko
Give me Holm, Barboza (Sorry Gilbert), Ngannou, Herrig, Wineland, Pepey
Bellator recap, The Middle-Aged Assassin Melvin G got a much needed win, he’s having trouble making weight so he’s moving up to 170, calls out Paul Daley.
What do you guys make of this call for a fighters Union?
Strikes.
Because that’s what unions do.
I know that but I mean is do you think they have a point?
Ah, I’m not sure.
I would say that if a fighter’s union might have been able to shoot down that Reebok deal in the UFC, I’d be for it.
I don’t think that deal benefited the fighters, The UFC, the fans or MMA in general.
But I am not sure where to get further info in this union, SWB, I haven’t seen the article or source. I’m not sure if I missed it in the thread, but if you can point me to the story, i’d be grateful.
Well it was all over ESPN after UFC 200 and the sale went down plus supposedly Mark Hunt called for it because he was outraged over the whole Lesnar ordeal.
I’m not a big fan of unions in general. The mere idea of a strike frightens me. The World Series was once cancelled for a strike.
But OTOH the fighters do appear to get screwed over a bit. So I don’t know.
