It’s been on consistently a few years.

My husband and son are devoted.

I’m curious to see if the tech for it has changed since the early 2000s.

I'm not sure the tech has changed, only the means of destruction. With that being said, for every bot I figure is going to win, the other one gets the upper hand.............

Fun stuff, I could watch it all day long...........

Have they addressed the design factors in a way that we will see varying designs and features?

Not really, the most successful bots seem to be low profile with front end flippers and grinders............I don't think the average viewer is aware of how heavy and powerful these bots are. I think most of them are over 200 lbs.

The recorded premier I watched last night was 2 hours and in one battle, a bot was literally flipped 10 feet into the air and into the protective glass in front of the judges.........Now that's some power!

I wonder if you can use 3d printing tech to help with those repairs? Or is that a process that takes too much time?

I don't think so. When Battlebots first aired years ago, most of the repairs were done in the background with already prefabricated parts. I don't know about 3D but these Bots use solid steel armor.......

I looked up gigantour a few years ago online.

I wasn’t sure if it was a false memory or real :).

I think I remember him flying out of a gargae.

Best friend was some kid.

Right - the heavy, low profile wedge with protected wheels and flipper. Problem is those get boring to watch after a while. I enjoyed some of the more artistic and technical designs: circular saws, torches, and clamps.

All teams throw down a lot of time and dinero to operate at that level.

I didn’t think so. I watched this years ago. But it would be cool if you could apply a modification in your design within minutes. I’m not talking extravagant things. A bit more armor here. A slight angle change there.

Yup, all that. I was a little old to like that show as a kid. I was already a young teen when it debuted IIRC.

All they need is one that wears a suicide belt and ‘GAME OVER’ and so would be the show.

Yeah, was probably good up to 11 at most.

At least I wasn’t dreaming it :)

What exactly are the rules on bot design?

I am not sure. I haven’t watched this for years. But I think they have categories.

I think there were a few different shows. I watched one called Robot Wars with the guy who played Lister on Red Dwarf. Think I watched another show also but can’t remember anything about it.

I also liked watching Junk Yard Wars around the same time.
