Have they addressed the design factors in a way that we will see varying designs and features?

Not really, the most successful bots seem to be low profile with front end flippers and grinders............I don't think the average viewer is aware of how heavy and powerful these bots are. I think most of them are over 200 lbs.

The recorded premier I watched last night was 2 hours and in one battle, a bot was literally flipped 10 feet into the air and into the protective glass in front of the judges.........Now that's some power!

Right - the heavy, low profile wedge with protected wheels and flipper. Problem is those get boring to watch after a while. I enjoyed some of the more artistic and technical designs: circular saws, torches, and clamps.

All teams throw down a lot of time and dinero to operate at that level.
