Plans for 'a closer European Union' have been branded an attempt to create a 'European superstate'.
Germany's foreign minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier and his French counterpart Jean-Marc Ayrault today presented a proposal for closer EU integration based on three key areas - internal and external security, the migrant crisis, and economic cooperation.
But the plans have been described as an 'ultimatum' in Poland, with claims it would mean countries transfer their armies, economic systems and border controls to the EU.
Zaoralek added that the four eastern members had reservations about the proposed common security policy.
Eastern members have become increasingly jittery on security issues since Moscow used so-called "hybrid warfare", or undeclared covert tactics - to annex the Crimean peninsula from Ukraine in 2014.
Poland's public TVP described the Franco-German proposal as an "ultimatum" designed to create a European "superstate dominated by large nations."

The Fourth Reich.
Germany is trying to claim the power vacume and bully the other nations.
This was probably the plan from the beginning. The powers behind BREXIT probably knew this was in the offing but couldn’t say anything.
I hope Poland, and some of the other countries beaten up by Nazi Germany have a fair chance for EUEXIT. If every country isn’t offered a referendum for EUEXIT we will know it is a new Nazi Fascist state.
If the Brits want to really twist the knife, they will back down their socialism...but that has not happened yet.
They have to Boot Merkel not give her Europe

Poland isn’t giving up their army and then be sitting between an allied Germany and Russia. They’ve seen that movie before. It has a bad ending.
This is really dumb. Germany couldn’t devise a more effective plan to push more countries out.
Um, so what happens to NATO?
Deutchland dosen’t want to leave der Vaterland?
Salsipuedes....
Unbelievable. Last year, Germany went to NATO maneuvers with broomsticks instead of guns. Who are they kidding?
Merkel is a bully. Her foreign minister is a raging pinko. She thinks she can use Germany’s economic muscle to force what they want.
I guess this would make it a trilogy.
Germany Part I
Russia Part II
European Union Part III
This makes sense. Let the super state invade the independent England and get the whole enchilada. Actually, I love the idea of pushing for a super state. Once they move forward with the plan many other EU countries will head for the “exit”. If the EU succeeds then it will be Germany and France as welfare sugar daddies for the likes of Portugal and Greece. The producers left in the super state (Eurostan?) Will migrate to the UK. Statists never learn.
That is a good question. NATO is apparently largely based on The Continent. Should the US back off from NATO bases, how woukd the local economies grow?
They don’t have a currency.
Only the UK was smart enough to test the water AND keep their currency.
I was thinking much the same thing. It's one thing to practice coercion through carrot and stick diplomacy. It's quite another to take prospective allies and tell them that their choice is either a difficult, vindictive time on exit, or subjugation within the EU.
One thing I might differ on--I used to think the French were driving the EU boat, trying in French fashion (remember the pre-WW I alliances) to bind Germany more tightly to Europe. Maybe it's the Germans now. Economically, yes. But diplomatically? I don't know, except for Merkel's crazed immigrant-push.
I guess that depends on the US Presidential Election.
