One thing Star Trek always does well is push beyond social boundaries, often featuring progressive storylines that question controversial issues of the time.
The new Star Trek series on CBS will also feature progressive characters and stories, maintaining the tradition of going "where no one has gone before."
When asked about those kinds of story lines, showrunner Bryan Fuller confirmed that the new series plans on going back to Star Trek's roots.
"I think the progressive audience that loves Star Trek will be happy that we're continuing that tradition," Fuller said to Collider.

Wrong. The government never would have invented warp drive, starships, or transporters. If we left it up to the government we would still be carving round rocks in to squares to allow equal distribution of loads on wheels.

Caitlyn Jenner as Captain Quirk.

Ewwwww....that’s just wrong!
99% of the aliens speaking English?
LOL. Me too.
That’s from the episode “Menage a Troi.” I always liked Marina Sirtis.
Expect fags, dykes, trannies, and lots of illegal “aliens.”
And now there’s no need to argue over who was the worst captain, Picard or Janeway. One can be both.
The only Star Trek alien race to get their own reality show...
No thanks!
I remember it. The “Ewwwww...” was for the mother.
