“Too late for NY. I believe Comrade Cuomo’s “Safe Act” already requires gun registration.”
I get your point and add that in addition to NY, CT & NJ have either gun registration and/or FOID.
But the state of Hawaii using a Federal database to register gun owners AND monitor their doings & whereabouts, is IMO both unique and dangerous. It’s known as “precrime”, the method used by NSA to identify potential terrorists.
Hawaii by its action now assumes that all gun owners are potentially dangerous because of what they possess. This is guilty with no chance of proving innocence, and that’s fascism.

If they don’t like the US Constitution, they should NOT be in the US.
I wouldn't bet on the NRA helping out here — they seem to be A-ok with allowing unconstitutional gun-laws to stay around and, in fact, I could see them trying to milk this development as another of their your gun-rights are about to be taken away, send money now!
-campaigns. (I find they're rather like the Republican party in that they talk and talk and yet are content to be the underdog/failure so they can always urge for more.)
