Bikini-clad sports grads combat monks to become rafting lifesavers in China

A Chinese rafting attraction has established a team of bikini-clad lifeguards to ensure the safety of its visitors and accompany solo tourists to enjoy the water sport.

To become a member of the 'Goddess Lifesavers' at Gulongxia Rafting in southern China, candidates must wear bikinis and combat kung fu masters before being recruited.

Pictures emerged from the media showed a team of keen applicants practising martial arts skills with monks from China's famous Shaolin Temple on June 17 at the attraction in Guangdong Province, reported the People's Daily Online.

Technically I guess you could say they are bikinis but they are bikinis fashioned by Omar the tent maker.

This belongs under the weird news column. I suspect that not a one of these life guards can actually swim, much less rescue a minnow.

Why degrade the monks with such blatant efforts to attract tourists? I think it likely they were duped.

Once they pass the training, the female lifeguards will be tasked to save the life of female visitors.

Before anyone gets too excited, the article claims the women in bikinis are there to rescue women. Still, after all their Shaolin training, I imagine a lot of men would volunteer to study under these life guards.
