King locally hosted Romper Room from 1966 to 1976. The program aired worldwide with different hosts in each locale.
During the show, King played learning games with children and urged them to be Do Bees who behaved well, not Don't Bees who played in the street or failed to clean their plates.
Each episode ended with King holding up a mirror-like frame and looking through it to name child viewers.

RIP.
“Bend and stretch/ reach for the stars/ here comes Jupiter/ there goes Mars’’. Ah, such simpler times.
I watched the later years of Romper Room in the Early 80s. It’s always sad to see such great ladies fade from the lives of kids, only to be replaced with the pseudo-pervs that have access to them today.
Are Sheriff John and Hobo Kelly still alive?
my little sister and her best friend loved the show. may gods grace fallow you through the doors of heaven. you were a blessing to many a little one as they were growing up.
Sheriff John left us in 2012. I grew up with him, as did every kid who was alive in the 1950s in Southern California.
Ah, I loved that show when I was little. That, and Captain Kangaroo.
By the time my son came along, those wonderful charming shows just weren’t around any more. Instead, there were things like Sesame Street, which I always found condescending and annoying, even as a child. Since I couldn’t stand the selection of “educational programming” available at the time, my son grew up with Ren and Stimpy, and Pinky and the Brain.
RIP, Mary Ann.
Hobo Kelly is still alive.

Another children’s show host was Engineer Bill.

Romper, stomper domper doo, tell me tell me tell me who. Have my friends been good today, did they put there toys away? Or something like that....
I did not know that RR was a franchise. Interesting.
Oh, plus they recited the Pledge of Allegience and said a prayer when they had their snack.
Imagine a children’s tv show trying that now.
RIP, I remember the magic mirror and and do-bee.
Miss Sally. Baltimore.
Loved Romper Room. “Oh and there’s Mike...and Nancy...and David...!”
And you never heard "And there's Mohammed and Shaniqua....."
RIP. Back before LGBT crap was taught to preschoolers.
I’m of the Miss Frances generation.
I have an unusual name, so she never said hello to me.
Took me awhile, but I got over it.
my sister thought that it was amazing that the person on the television was talking to her when her name was used.
I don’t remember Romper Room, just references to it.
But what was the show with Diver Dan and “The Barracuda” - a wise talking plastic fish with a cigarette hanging out of its mouth???
