Jack Ma said many counterfeit goods are now of better quality than the genuine articles, in an apparent riposte to criticism that Alibaba, the Chinese ecommerce group he founded, profits from the sale of knock-offs.
The remarks by the chairman of Alibaba, which has long been dogged by accusations of tolerating the sale of counterfeit goods on platforms such as Taobao, are unlikely to be welcomed by luxury goods makers.
"The problem is the fake products today are of better quality and better price than the real names. They are exactly the [same] factories, exactly the same raw materials but they do not use the names," he said during a speech on Tuesday at Alibaba's headquarters in Hangzhou.

Say you sell a gold eagle, and the buyer claims it a fake. ebay takes your paypal payment back and he sends the coin back, except the one he sends back really is fake.

Chiang Mai night market has some great rip offs but it’s buyer beware. Years ago I got a dandy Levi pants copy. Put them on the next day and went around town in 85F heat and 90% humidity. In the evening everything was still fine except for my blue legs.
I lived in Chiang Mai for about 2 years. Thailand does not have good fakes. Believe it or not, Laos is really where I got the wallet, in Vientiane or Luang Prabang. But they get their stuff from Hong Kong. The store is in both cities, it’s called the Walk Man or something like that. Most of the stuff in those 2 stores is high quality fakes.
We still have a house in San Sai Noi. My wife is from Phrae but got her nursing degree at Payap. We enjoy the area but are getting too old to travel much so a Nephew is using the house now.
I like Chiang Mai. Good airport and great place to get an apartment and centrally located to travel around SE Asia. Laos was always my favorite country though, I’ve spent a lot of time there.
