Isn’t it too late to cancel something that big?
Where could they stage it instead. Puerto Rico maybe?

Postpone it for a year, and give them time to clean it up,.,,,,, if possdible?
The Olympic model is past its sell-by date anyhow. We should have annual world championships in every sport. The only real value of the Olympics is probably the chance to highlight the "minor" sports that otherwise never get attention outside their niche. But frankly, the lesser known sports are probably better off in their niche where they can run things to suit themselves, without having to jump through the IOC's hoops.
As for the jinxed Brazil Olympics, any number of replacement cities have the facilities to host the games. A few obscure Olympic sports requiring specialized facilities might have to be farmed out or improvised. The real issue for a short term switch would be the need to cancel events already scheduled in the various venues, and an Olympic size mess with hotel rooms.
