The guy could sing.

Also, don't forget "Young Girl".

Based on his lyrics, I would not have let any of my daughters spend any time whatsoever with Mr. Puckett, nor with his associates at the Union Gap.

Another 60’s hit song which the band did not play on . See “ The Wrecking Crew “ .

And don’t forget This Girl Is a Woman Now

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o2H6vY_ky9M

This girl walked in dreams playing in a world of her own
This girl was a child existing in a playground of stone
Then one night her world was changed
Her life and dreams were rearranged
And she would never be the same again

This girl is a woman now
She’s learned how to give
This girl is a woman now
She’s found out what it’s all about
And she’s learning, learning to live

This girl tasted love as tender as the gentle dawn
She cried a single tear a teardrop that was sweet and warm
Our hearts told us we were right
And on that sweet and velvet night
A child had died, a woman had been born

This girl is a woman now
She’s learned how to give
This girl is a woman now
She’s found out what it’s all about
And she’s learning, learning to live

This girl is a woman now
She’s learned how to give
This girl is a woman now
She’s found out what it’s all about
And she’s learning, learning learning to live

This girl is a woman now
She’s learned how to give

And, of course, “Young Girl.”

You have to admire his ability to create four chart hits from essentially the same song.

One of the best male vocalists of all time.

Another great singer, Jay Black (born David Blatt) of Jay and the Americans.

Cara Mia was just incredible! Listen to Jay Black in 1965 and then in 2011, YES 2011, incredible!

Incredible.

Some difference in his hair color (all of us have probably suffered that fate :-), but the voice is exactly the same.

We used to call them G.P. and the U.G. in olden times.

Even when I was just a kid in 1968, I couldn’t stand Gary Puckett! All of his stuff sounds the same.

My favorite version of "Cara Mia" is by David Whitfield, from 1954.
