I couldn't hack it getting elected as a liberal politician so I quit all that and now I SH*T on America with very young, credulous readers as an audience instead.
So much for escapism. The kind of dreck this Nick Spencer is excreting pretty much defeats that goal.
Funny how decades of writers managed to appeal to a wide audience. Clever writers would perhaps put a personal opinion in a story, but often in a literary sense that would require the reader to read between the lines to discern it. It certainly interrupt or dominate the story or bash the reader over the head like the panels in the article.
The books sold much, much better then and cost under a buck.
And they were fun and took you away for a little while.
