Just like raw tuna is a favorite of foodies everywhere, Robert Nathan Allen foresees a day when crickets will make their way onto consumers' plates.
A growing need for more food sources as well as a desire to treat animals more humanely have proponents predicting entomophagy, or eating insects, will eventually spread more heavily to western and developed countries. They envision pancakes made with cricket flour or falafel chocked full of mealworm goodness will be just as desirable as sushi.

Crickets, grasshoppers and bees are actually quite delicious when sautéed in soy sauce, sugar, and sake, and other flavorings.
...
In other words, make sure you can’t taste or recognize the crickets, grasshoppers and bees.

Bugatarians are welcome to my portions; in exchange, I’ll volunteer to eat their portions of steak out of the goodness of my heart, you know, to relieve them of any humanitarian guilt.
BTW, don’t Bugatarians know that insects have feelings too?

Ah, ok, hadn’t heard that before.
My mom once made me carob brownies.
Never had grasshopper, but didn’t like carob.

Perhaps. I’ve only eaten the packaged and canned stuff. Eaten raw I image they’d be pretty terrible.

I did some more checking and it looks like John did eat insects. Not only that but locusts were considered Kosher in his time. I wonder if they still are. I’d rather eat catfish, farm raised, though.

If they give it another name, I could see it becoming a fad. People who wouldn’t touch a plate of pigeon will still eat squab. But if they keep the names? No, the ick factor will still be there.
