But part of the campaigns upcoming strategy includes fine-tuning previously made platforms and statements, Manafort said,
And on one of his most controversial, the temporary ban on Muslims, Manafort hinted at a Trump softening.
Hes already started moderating on that, Manafort told the Huffington Post. He operates by starting the conversation at the outer edges and then brings it back towards the middle. Within his comfort zone, hell soften it some more. Hell still end up outside of the norm, but in line with what the American people are thinking.

Look, the ONLY reason I am voting for Trump is because he said he would ban muslims, build a wall and throw the illegals out so fast it would “make my head spin.” If he’s going to soften, “evolve,” and “fine-tune,” then he’s no better than all the other freaks.
Good thing you’re here to tell us what Trump (and his spokespeople) really mean when they say things that differ from what they told us earlier.
They didn’t differ, you just misunderstood.
From a recent article--
"I think there is something deeper going on. The problem isnt that voters are too uninformed. It is that they dont know just how uninformed they are. "
Which isn’t at all what was implied, but nice try having no sense of proportion.
Trump doesn’t need to ‘go soft’ on his immigration platform. Sure, he has businesses in vulnerable locations...however, those who could threaten his businesses also have investments here in the USA which are just as vulnerable. Trump plays chess on his own game board unlike previous administrations efforts at checkers on theirs.
“No, if Trump goes soft on immigration and islam I will NOT show up at the polls.”
+1
Like I said, I’m glad you’re here to save me from my lyin’ ears.
I see all the anti-Trumpers are giddy this morning with the “I told you so’s”. The only problem is they’re quoting Paul Manafort, not Donald Trump. Manafort has been an asset to the Trump campaign but has gone over the line a few times already when it comes to presuming to speak for Trump. This appears to be another example of that.
I know he never said a permanent ban. He said a ban until the government figures out what they're doing, which could very well be the same thing. But I also remember he didn't talk about a ban in immigration by Muslims but a ban on Muslims entering for any reason.
“Manafort hinted at a Trump softening.”
I hope not!
I feel good about Trump. If he does 25% of what he says he will do I’ll be happy. I love his Supreme Court list.
I think Trump knows this is non-negotiable with his supporters. But just wait til the next incident of Islamic terror here. It will go right back to banning them all.
But if Trump weakens on this or immigration in general, he will lose in a landslide.
