I have a close relative who is a West Point grad. Been visiting there a number of times myself.
They are not (I don’t think) technically “in formation”. And that definitely isn’t on the hallowed infield of the sacred plain.
When they want to move the kids around campus in a group they have them move in columns like that.
Probably wrong on her part, but not a severe a violation of discipline as the headline implies.
Nice try
That was marching in a formation. That is a fact. She was texting while in formation. Wrong and a violation of decorum AND discipline.
I agree - some of them appear to be ‘gazing around’, which leads me to believe they are at ‘at ease march’...I have no idea whether or not phones are allowed when ‘at ease march’, and it doesn’t really showcase the cadets very well to do that with so many in the public around...but this wasn’t on the parade field.
Another interesting nugget in the article:
“The vice president saluted class president Eugene E.J. Coleman for publicly coming out as gay”
Yikes!
He added that the the graduating cadet should not have been on her phone during the march, and the infraction was usually addressed by an on-the-spot correction.
"Cadets have an individual responsibility for ensuring their appearance and actions reflect the highest level of military professionalism," Kasker said.
They are lined up and in step, that is technical enough for me (and in public view) Once again horrible judgment by supposedly the best and brightest with ith zero ramifications like the black power salute..... more to come. Thanks Odunga you have done more to destroy the Military than pretty much any President before you.
“...want to move the kids...”
Sir, they’re not kids. They’re men and women in training to lead our military...in war, if necessary.
We must demand better.
