Regarding survival in the event a natural disaster or social upheaval I question the wisdom of resorting to survival balls or long-term bunkering as a reliable solution. With respect to either option, what happens if a “something” blocks and/or prevents egress? The way elites are viewed these days I can envision a deliberate act whereby the big blast-proof door or any other point of entry/egress of a underground bunker being welded shut from the outside.

I agree, with debris and being a real issue it might end up being your own personal tomb. Also if air tight, you might well suffocate. Way too claustrophobic.

I think a slit trench is much safer, unless it is a flood/tornado, in which case a slit trench on high ground.

Same principal as island tipping. Everyone gets on one side and it'll roll over.

I’d be more worried about the “Dirty Dozen” option.

I was thinking the same thing ... and it would not even take malice to want emergency egress capabilities. Here in the PNW we have volcanos that can level a forest in seconds. Assuming I had time to get in one, how do I get out if a 50 ton Cedar is laying in front of the door?
