Christopher Walken reads The Raven by Edgar Allan Poe. A short film starring Christopher Walken.
If you watched The Simpsons then you've heard James Earl Jones's great version as well.
I was substitute teaching a class of 5th graders. For some reason I mentioned “The Raven” to them. I was surprised that not a single one of them had ever heard of it.
I told them I wished I could read it to them. One of the kids was smarter than me and told me the library probably had it. After a few minutes he came back with it.
While I was reading it to them, I realized many of the words were way above their comprehension. As it turned out it didn’t matter. When I finished, the kids spontaneously began to applaud.
"it needs more cowbell"
That’s awesome to hear another generation enjoying it. That might be the greatest read of all time. It’s perfect.
I was surprised to find that he is a childhood friend of Lidia Bastianich and that they worked in a bakery together as kids
Walken always leaves an Impression ,
Not sure what kind it Is !
I expected better from him ... weak performance
Lenore is a very interesting character in mid-19th century popular literature, one of the first great horror poems. Every treatment of her afterward had a slightly different take and most of them were pretty good. Joachim Raff wrote his best symphony around her. When I think of that flaming specter that was her lover rising on horseback from the grave, I think of Walken's character in Sleepy Hollow. Happy Halloween...
He gets cast as a heavy and a macho guy sometimes.
Price followed by Jones ... imo
Kids like it because of the rhyming, it’s like a rap song, it’s musical. What I find fascinating about Poe is he wrote a lot about madness and he actually was found that way right before he died. Completely out of his mind wearing someone else’s clothes.
His bit in the movie “Joe Dirt”,,,
Quirky,
“Annie Hall”,, He was Bizarre!
It is likely that Poe died of rabies which somehow sounds appropriate.
I think he really died of poverty which was entirely possible in his time.
More cowbell!
Good Hunting... from Varmint Al
That is very possible. What blows my mind is how long ago he died. I’m using my cellphone so I cant look it up, but I believe he died something like 10 years before the Civil war even started. That is a looooooong ass time ago. For some reason it seems like he died somewhere in the early 20th century but he didn’t.
That was a great movie “DA ICE IS GONNA BREAK!” lol lol And that creepy serial killer cop who offs himself by wearing a raincoat and impaling scissors in his mouth, daaaamn. I got to watch that again. Oh yes and Martin Sheen playing the politician. “YOU PUT YOUR HAND ON THAT BUTTON OR I WILL CUT IT OFF AND PUT IT THERE MYSELF!!!” lol lol lol Funny how I can see Hillary acting like that.
