We need to normalize our relationship with Viet Nam; the country is politically and economically where China was under Deng.
Barack Obama is the worst possible person to begin this. (Hillary would be a very close second.)
The enemy of my enemy is my friend. This is a geo-political tactic to help contain China’s expansion. This would happen even if a Republican was in office.
Given that the Vietnamese will likely be using them to kill Red Chinese, this might actually be okay.
Of course, with odungheap as a president, it's all just idle jibjab. And the idea of posing with a Ho Chi Minh statue is just typical of either his incompetence or his arrogance.
But the Vietnamese are not the Viet Cong and Viet Minh of the war era. Just like the Japanese of today are not like Tojo's pawns from WWII.
Yeah as if its okay to give weapons to foreign countries, but its not okay to be a Christian CHL holder in this country.
Washington, DC = Village of Idiots
If you have a Microsoft Lumia phone, look on the About screen, they are made in Vietnam at the Lumia factory there. Microsoft is selling that factory to Lenovo.
The U.S. also sold Vietnam Airlines Boeing 787 Dreamliner airliners. They took delivery of the first one last year. Here’s a picture of the Boeing 787 in the Vietnam Airlines colors. Click on pictures for larger image at link below:

By that token then you shouldn’t be selling weapons to Japan or Germany or Italy. Or the French and the British if you want to go back far enough. Opponents under some circumstances frequently become allies in other circumstances. It’s nothing new. And right now Vietnam has as much interest in controlling China’s expansion as the U.S. does.
We owe them for invading Cambodia and putting an end to the killing fields while all the “free” nations stood around and did nothing.
This is like posing with that huge Che mural behind him in Cuba. It’s his passive-aggressive way of telling us “HA HA I fooled you guys!”
I pray that when President Trump goes there, if he goes there, that it will be business only, and we won't have to see pictures of him like this...that would break my heart completely...
I realize it's my disdain for this pResident that upsets me the most, but at least have some compassion and grace from the Nation your suppose to represent!!!
HarleyLady27 I’m with you I lost my brother in Viet Nam!
What a tearing at my heart today.
HL, you are not alone. However, consider the source of your displeasure. A skinny mulatto Muslim, makes nice with our past enemies and castrates our military in doing so. There is nothing new in the fact he has done that. He’s done it countless times before. This is what we’ve come to expect from this vine swinging creature. Sit back, watch and pray one day soon he will reap what he has sown. At that time you and I will be watching with smiles alongside countless other Americans.
All in God’s time, all in due time. Amen

Why would you think that you are the only person outraged by Soetoro’s treatment of our troops? As we’ll see in the fall, the majority of voters are infuriated about that.
It was around 45 years ago that it ended. If someone was bitching about interacting with Japan or Germany in 1990, because of WWII, they’d look like an idiot. Of course its fine to interact with Vietnam now. The veteran tours are a busy business and people couldn’t be anymore friendly or less bitter towards us.
That said, Obama is the wrong person to do it because everyone knows he would have been with the enemy in the war era.
I agree !
USA is trying to rally Philippines, Vietnam , S Korea, Japan, Taiwan, India etc. to contain China. And they are all on board because China threatens them all.
that’s fine, but Oba should have never given the gooks a photo op.
He just does it because he knows it infuriates US veterans. It is his way of giving them the finger as he slinks out the door.
