HISTORY® premieres "Roots" on Memorial Day 2016, airing over four consecutive nights at 9 p.m. beginning Monday, May 30, it was announced today by Paul Buccieri, President of A&E and HISTORY. The four-night, eight-hour event series developed by HISTORY, from A+E Studios, is a historical portrait of American slavery recounting the journey of one family and their will to survive and ultimately carry on their legacy despite hardship.

Except for the fact that it was complete fiction in many ways, particularly in the way it tried to sell the idea (which many believe) that the Europeans actually went into Africa and captured people to take back as slaves. No mention of the fact that Africans were enslaved and sold by other Africans to the European slave traders.
The only purpose of the reboot is to reopen the wound and drive a wedge between people. It is hollywood's way of making sure people don't get too complacent or comfortable with the idea that there are many black millionaires and black people in positions of power and prominence in the US. They want to keep reminding people that slavery existed in the colonies and that is the reason for all of the failings and ills of the urban black community. Whitey's fault.
