Must’ve been a snapping turtle. The little Terrapins and Box Turtles we have here don’t make it through traffic, they get crushed. Tender-hearted people stop and carry them across the road, because they move so slowly that they’re very likely to get run over.

I love to paddle up to a log where there are a dozen or more sunning themselves ... and ploop....they all slide into the water in unison. Sweet critters.
