This is a PC Dejah Thoris. They gave her Black features. John Carter was a Cinfederate officer. Dejah looking like a black would not be in context of the time of the story. He skin would have a reddish tint, not olive. Her features would be European... Narrow nose etc. She did have black hair as described by Burroughs, but this pic of Dejah ks PC
