They do have some interesting idols! I collect them - I just bought a liitle statuette of Shiva dancing in the fire. The trappings of Hinduism are quite beautiful. I know almost nothing about the faith.
My wife worked in Nursing homes and multi-level care facilities for many years. There are people from many cultures who work as nurses and nurses aides, not to mention doctors. People from India are almost all very hard workers and mostly conservative. They have very well behaved children. They assimilate well into our society. Unfortunately, many people mistake them for Muslims.
My wife has worked with surprisingly few foreign born Muslims or black people who have converted. But the Muslims she has worked with have been difficult to get along with. They have mostly had a "holier than thou" attitude and many have demanded special treatment. When they have been told they are not doing a good job they claimed they were being discriminated against. The Muslims tended to get in lots of arguments with other employees. They didn't make friends and the other employees were often afraid of them. Her experiences as a supervisor with Muslims have been universally bad and this has been especially true with male employees who have been both dishonest and have made physical threats of violence against her and other employees when confronted about basically anything.
In contrast her experience with employees from India and Indian decent have on the other hand have been universally good.
Oh that is so cool that you collect the beautiful Indian art! We also have a few pieces. Shiva dancing in the fire is quite lovely - I think it is called the “Nataraj.”
One of my favorites is the Ganesha figure - the elephant headed God. It would seem that that would also be appropriate for this election cycle! LOL! We definitely need the proper manifestation of the Elephant for the GOP to be resurrected into a higher better form!
I’m a Christian, but do enjoy knowing about many other religions. The people who devoutly (not fanatically) worship tend to have much more in common than they realize.
If you look at the deep MYSTICAL traditions of the various world religions, one can make a case that they all are saying the same general things about the One True God who reveals Himself to the true seeker.It is quite fascinating.
