Part of what makes Rush the consummate Radio broadcaster is the usage of the pregnant pause.
It is a linguistic art best suited for radio, speeches, and attorneys with a captive audience.
Bores the hell out of the layman when used in any other environment.
Well...for some reason it comes across as smarmy with Cruz.
I’m not even sure if smarmy is the right word...but it just isn’t effective.
But then, I don’t listen to Rush, I’m at work when he is on but I also don’t care that much about what he says. I don’t need him to tell me what to think.
Most of his "stupid pauses came when he was "FLYING" on Oxy !
One of the FATHERS OF TALK RADIO, Bob Grant, didn't use that banal trick ever and he was far better than Rush and 50 times more intelligent.
