Yep. One of the disappointments of my youth. When I was five or six, the neighbor on the other side had a fire engine red 1958 Buick Special convertible. He was my pal and took me for a ride. I remember that day like it was yesterday. It was the first time I had seen a car with an air conditioner.

Yep. That was the poor mans version. My brother had one. It was a POS. Trans went out on it right after he bought it.
Bummer. No wonder Pontiac went under, Aztec and Fiero.

Chevelle SS 396 In 1968 I was torn between that and a GTO 389 with tri power.
What I drove was a 63 Pontiac Tempest Station wagon....with a busted heater.

Yeah, they’re better, but that ‘80s era 911 turbo is a more interesting car. It has lines and basic engineering that go straight back to the original. If offered the choice between a beautiful example of a classic ‘80s 911 turbo and a new one, I wouldn’t hesitate for a second. I’d take the classic.

Then there was also the Buick Grand National.

If you ever get your hands on one, take some time to learn the handling quirks before you drive it anywhere near the limits. They’re tail-happy from all the weight in the rear. Americans are very unaccustomed to oversteer, and earlier 911’s can do so with a vengeance.

Yeah, but a hell of a ride for a quarter mile. My girlfriend’s older brother had a 440 six-pack Cuda that I got to drive a few times. Cool car & just a little more powerful than my ‘59 VW Beetle.

Yeah, that’s a well known trait of those cars. I only own rear wheel drive cars because I enjoy steering the back end with the throttle.

XKE Jaguar was mine too but I had to settle for this.
Have you noticed the bottom falling out on the prices of XKEs lately?

I’ve had 3 Lotus Elans over the years. Can’t stay away from them. Driving does not get better than on the back roads with an Elan with Emma Peel at my side.

Had a 68 Camaro, a chick magnet at A&W; biggest problem was keeping tires on the beast. My dream car was a 63 split window corvette, still is today...
