I never understood what was so special about Subway.

......................................................

My guess would be lots of advertising combined with consumers at least knowing what they are getting even though it’s incredibly average.

Their submarine sandwiches are not impressive.
Turkey should not be "slippery" in consistency.

I never understood what was so great about Subway either. It’s really just a sandwich. For the odd time I need to grab fast food, which isn’t often, I want a good ol’ burger....

They had less competition before. Wawa and others are putting them out of business. Better quality and value.

They put so little meat in their sandwiches. You have to upgrade to “extra meat” and even then it isn’t enough. Terrible value.

It's quick. You can custom order your sandwich. And they make it in full view, so you know you won't be getting spit or "special sauce".

Their locations. We have one in the little town we live in, and it was the only decent sub shop in 20 miles.

Till the local gas station chain Casey’s put in an expanded food line. They now have great pizza (3rd largest pizza chain in the US) and good subs. Subway has a lot of competition.

Last time I went there (they were right across the street from my workplace), they put pickles on my meatball sub.

Since this was tantamount to treason, I never went back. Their food was pretty bad anyway.

Subway is garbage. Their meats are awful. Their bread is half-assed. Their staff is often ill-tempered.

I’d rather go to Publix and get one of their amazing subs.

If you don't particularly like meat, love vegetables and adore flavorless bread, Subway's da bomb!

It’s corporate food for people who have never had access to a genuine hoagie.

Nothing. Just as there is nothing special about any other fast food place. All of them are fine from time to time. Most of us have the sense to mix it up enough to not get bored.

I have personal favorites on a few items, but by and large, fast food is interchangeable. I don't get hung up on any brand; the variety is the thing. The only thing I've eaten at McDonald's in many years is the fish sandwich, and if I'm not in the mood for that, I go somewhere else. There are about three chains where I'll order the burger, a similar number for fried chicken, and a couple for subs.

It really just depends on what happens to be at a particular exit along the highway when I'm on a road trip and trying to make time, which is primarily when I eat fast food.

Subway is sure inferior to the mom and pop sub shops I used to patronize.

Right there with you. The quality of meat is awful, the bread is nothing special, and the service is the slowest, most painful experience you ever want to go through.

Survival of the fittest. Jared, the pervert, helped them. They should have been gone long ago.
