The only part I didn't understand was Rafael, LHO and Jack Ruby driving together from New Orleans to Dallas, and the lady in the nut-house saying she knew what was coming. Why would Jack Ruby have been in New Orleans?
Yes, I never entered the rabbit trail or had a theory on JFK’s death. But lately, my interest was piqued when I read an article similar to the one posted. It’s the same story that I heard from several Cuban exiles many decades ago.
At that time, I thought it was all drama because there had been a recent string of bombings against pro-Castro exiles and the Cuban ambassador. But the men were quite adamant and had no ulterior motive to lie. When interviewed separately, the information was consistent and they were very passionate about the details. These guys were very highly educated professional men ready to return and fight to liberate Cuba. Their stories were all quite stunning. All were insiders involved with Alpha 66; not Omega 7. They described multiple assassination attempts on Castro that match the 2006 article posted up-thread.
I just see that Cruz took a very unusual path from Cuba given his youth and inexperience. Once here, a Cuban with a revolutionary persuasion would have sought fellow comrades in Texas, and in New Orleans. What happened beyond that, if anything, and why Cruz scooted to Canada just adds to the intrigue. If Cruz was in anyway implicated, it may explain why he waited fourty-plus years to apply for citizenship, and at a time when Ted held a position with the WH to expedite his application.

Lots of conflicts with documentation. And you got to wonder who paid tuition, room & board, travel, etc. And how a non-English speaker alien gets immediate entrance to UTexas and takes university level coursework, all while missing the first month of school to return to Cuba. Oh, and exits with a Math & Chemical Engineering Degree in 4 years.

He could well have been recruited by the FBI for all we know. The Fair Play for Cuba Committee was suspected of being a Communist front and you can be certain that we had someone on the inside spying for us. Cruz could have been one of them.
For example we had Morris Childs working for us inside the CPUSA back then, the second highest man inside the CPUSA. We were getting intel directly from Khrushchev’s mouth. We knew the Soviets weren’t involved in Kennedy’s death because Childs was in a room with the politburo when they all heard the news. He saw their shocked reactions and heard them debating who could have been responsible. They had a grudging respect for the American presidency and didn’t celebrate his assassination.

That is a distinct possibility. Cruz may have changed from a pro-Castro student and been employed or used by an alphabet agency. Certainly, Cruz had a great deal of financing from the time he set foot in America and the following 4-5 years. His initial support had to have come from those aligned with Castro. There was a right-wing exile group Revolutionary Student Directorate (DRE), which operated under the CIA’s direction. Cruz may have changed sides and sentiments were strongly anti-Castro in New Orleans.
It’s funny that a change of allegiance among the Cubans would still have not made one of fan of JFK. Kennedy sent conflicting signals and the exiles felt betrayed. Both sides of the Cuban ex-pat allegiances had good reason to distrust JFK and some were conspiring against him. Pro-Castro forces wanted JFK dead for meddling with Cuba and attempting multiple assassination attempts on Castro. The remaining freedom fighters hated JFK for the abandoning his support during the Bay of Pigs. To top it off, eight weeks before his death, Kennedy initiated secret negotiations with Castro via UN ambassadors that were contrary to his official stance known to the American people. And as a Democrat, Kennedy was trying to keep the conversations secret because if the Republicans discovered his agenda, there would have been outrage and major political backlash. Kennedy had stiffed the Cuban community and now was deceitful with Congress and the American people. Exiles were carrying out raids with the aid of the CIA and the US government was undergoing efforts to destabilize Cuba. Yet, behind the scenes, Kennedy was pursuing some other arrangement.
His administration presented a completely duplicitous policy. Kennedy was clandestinely signaling it’s time to negotiate an agreement with Castro. But Castro would be a fool to believe this since he’s faced with continuous sabotage from the exiles and isolation. Behind the scenes, egged on by the CIA, no one is trusting Kennedy. Cubans do not keep many secrets and the exiles learned that Kennedy did not have their backs, again.
